That is the world-wide dilemma. Unfortunately, the "bunker down" approach, essentially the "elimination strategy", does not work forever and certainly not without a 100% effective vaccine.

Our next door neighbour across the "ditch", New Zealand, had a run of just over 100 days without any new Covid-19 cases and no community transmission because they had closed all their international borders and imposed a period of (I believe) 6 weeks of the most severe lock-down restrictions in the world. That all came undone about a week ago when new Covid-19 cases suddenly appeared in their largest city. The outbreak was in workers at a frozen food storage facility and the source is believed to be imported frozen seafood although there is some argument about that.

I guess that the lesson here is that keeping the people out may not be enough. It seems that you also have to keep out anything that they have been touching and that will prove to be nigh impossible unless we are prepared to go to a total self subsistence existence. Economically, that will prove to be impossible.

I totally give up if, other people are going to irresponsibly bring this Covid 19 home to me.

All my hard work is in vain !

Why don't people think that this pandemic is real, and the pandemic will kill them, and they will intern kill me ?

I don't want Covid, and they are bringing it home to meI am deathly afraid to die !

When they find me cold and dead from Covid, they will find a freezer, 6 month stockpiled full of deep freeze frozen food, and 400 days worth of canned foods.
You aren't guaranteed to get sick, or to die, wear a mask indoors when with others who have been socialising or tell them to not come round , wash your hands, clean surfaces, isolate . the other thing is , which cant do any harm, boost your vitamin d levels as there is some evidence that those who have low levels ( common among older people or folks who arent getting much exposure to the sun) are affected more by the virus.
    good luck.

MP242, I do sympathise with you.
My attack of Covid was brought to me by one of my own family on Father's Day.

Although it was painful, I did not die (obviously, else I could not reply )

MP242, rules do work. Social distancing, wearing masks, frequent proper washing, sanitizing surfaces, quarantining, monitoring and looking for symptoms are proven methods for controlling a pandemic - they worked in the "Spanish Flu" pandemic 100 years ago and in the more recent SARS and H1N1 epidemics. Taking sensible precautions regardless of what anyone else does is your first line of defence. You cannot control what others do but you are the master of your own destiny.

You cannot simply give up and take a "we are all doomed" approach. For me that would be a worse fate than contracting Covid. I am an optimist, I believe I will get through this pandemic there is no other alternative that is sane.

Trainz has always been a great stress reliever for me and I often don't finish my projects, that has never mattered. Each failed project is a stepping stone for the next one.

Keep at it and don't worry about what the future may bring but do take the sensible precautions you need for today.

    My thoughts.

That is your solution. Stay away from the news channels and start Trainzing again.

Doomscrolling is what they call it. I started to fall into that trap, but fortunately realised that it was starting to affect my mental health so now I stay away from Farcebook and the news channels and simply get on with my life. I'm single and I'm completely happy that I am and I'm not remotely interested in social gatherings or having people round to visit. Because I have health issues I've tended to stay away from people anyway so when COVID-19 happened it didn't really change things much at all for me.

I am not getting into the debate but I am still alive after having Covid.
Last week the 'Long Covid' effect was really bad, looks like this virus is a keeper for some of us.

    Thread cleaned up.

This is a final reminder, it is NOT appropriate to have political discussions on the Trainz forums. Please keep this thread clean, and friendly. It is fine for people to share their own experiences/updates here, however it is not appropriate to make political posts or discussions; if you want to discuss this there are plenty of other websites for this.

Thanks Zec, I thought it was gone for good.
I appreciate what you have done.

I've had a few good days and got lots of stuff done on Trainz, including many assets sent to the DLS.

I am not looking for sympathy (although I do appreciate the support shown) I just want to let people know what the Covid experience is like.
I hope that nobody else gets it and has to go through the experience.
I was lucky, my body defense was good, but others may not be so lucky.

Please use a mask, observe social distancing and be vigilant.

Glad your feeling better. This stuff is nasty. I promise not to post in THIS thread any longer.

Good to see you are better Graham, and I must apologize for my behavior earlier. Will do better next time to keep politics out, and not to do something that violates the rules because I see others getting away with it.
