Trainz Plus Beta 107918 Available

I think a major problem with new beta/releases is that N3V may only test on a bare bones install (I may be wrong).
Perhaps N3V could consider also pre-testing a release on something like a larger install similar to what probably most users have - 100's of routes and a multitude of DLS and third party assets.

It does get a bit tetchy after all these years of working assets to have them fall over at each new release - I remember the days when we went from TS12 to Tane and had 1000's of texture issues - I nearly threw in the towel back then.

The big problem here is what is a "bare bones install" and what do "probably most users have"? There are so many possible variations there and then there are the different hardware and OS configurations.

That is why N3V and virtually every software developer has public beta testing.

They should ask me. As one who has nearly every asset I ever downloaded since December 2003 plus a boatload of 3rd party stuff, I think I could serve as a bell weather and point out when stuff goes tits up.

Hello.

Installed new build yesterday and only two minutes installation time but, more than 7 hours for DBR and finally I had to stop the repair.

Today restart Trainz + and only 10 minutes for DBR.

Could those users with payware not active errors please restart Trainz, re-enter your username and confirm if the problem is resolved. Thanks

Done.

They always worked flawlessly in 106618 (and previous builds) so how all of sudden could they become configured incorrectly or faulty?
Because they never worked as intended. Yes they did load previously, but they didn't load the required textures or animations. (They couldn't load them as they don't exist.)
It is possible that the texture is in a very obscure position so it was never noticed.
So to ensure that content creators have the necessary support that tells them when they try to load an asset that is missing a texture, they can edit the asset and fix the problem.

Manweb
For
Built-in, newer version available, this is due to content becing uploaded to the DLS but not yet publicly available. So the report is correct (there is a newer version) but not that useful (as it doesn't say "not yet publicly available").

For the payware not active issues, those items are not currently available on the store or through Trainz Plus Content Store. I believe they were available and then taken off the store (not sure the full reasons). We're investigating the best way to authorise it or solve the issue.

All good and well Tony but some of the assets I have that have these faults are by authors who have now left trainz or unfortunately deceased.

I think a major problem with new beta/releases is that N3V may only test on a bare bones install (I may be wrong).
We test with all DLC installed and a fresh install. In this case it depended on when you installed the content whether you had a problem.

All good and well Tony but some of the assets I have that have these faults are by authors who have now left trainz or unfortunately deceased.

Option 1 is to bulk replace with a similar item. Option 2 edit yourself. Option 3, the content repair group will hopefully resolve remaining issues.

Tony,
Thank you for your reply - we will persevere and make do, hopefully some of the issues can be sorted as you mentioned.

I have noticed that the Trainz + builds no longer have the x3 preview images. Are these being removed or is there something wrong with the code for the previews?

I have never seen more than a single preview as long as I can remember

I always had them in TRS19 since I subscribed "Plus" but they vanished with some patch (before 106618).

There's a repair for the anim.kin error.

If there are older assets with the following error, and do not have any animation, you need to perform some surgery if you want an error-free install.

- <kuid:204087:25004> VE242: Unable to load animation file 'anim.kin' (file not found, or is damaged).

Remove the asset-filename tag
Create a mesh-table.
Use PEVs PM2IM to create an .im file

Submit the asset.

Note: There are in fact some assets with this error that are in fact not referencing the anim.kin file properly. These assets need to explicitly reference the anim.kin file with the extension, otherwise, it won't work. I also ran into a handful of assets that referenced the incorrect anim.kin file in the config.txt. Updating that reference in the config.txt file solved that issue as well.

I just reported this as a bug since these older assets load fine in 106618.

In my CM (107918) that asset doesn't show an error but there is one as you described. CM quite often gets the status wrong and I reported this as a bug back in Dec 19.

The new version is build 4.7. If I have a map build 4.7 or build 4.6 and a session build 4.7, I have a freezing in driver. The first one or two commands to a consist are ok, the commands to another consists are leading to a strange freezing. The head of the icon of the driver is still moving and so the smoke, but it is no longer possible to give commands and the train is no longer driving. Trainz has to be killed with the taskmanager. In content manager the map and the session are still open after that. That occurs in every session, which is build 4.7. Sessions with build 4.6 are running without problems.

Has anyone the same problems?

Thank you very much for your answers in advance.

There might be an assertion message hidden behind Trainz.

Use Alt+TAB to bring up any other applications that might be hidden.
Once visible, use the built-in, in Windows, Screen snip, to capture the assertion error and paste it here and also send a bug report to N3V.

https://n3vgames.typeform.com/to/xRdryu

Once you've captured the image, you can then press continue and dismiss the error, and if it doesn't dismiss, press ignore and continue on.

Trainz has to be killed with the taskmanager. In content manager the map and the session are still open after that.
If you force quit, this is expected behaviour. You have the choice of using your changes or reverting to the last save.

and a session build 4.7, I have a freezing in driver.

No-one else has reported this and we're unable to repro with the information provided. I suggest trying a different route, different locos, different commands, and try to narrow down the common denominator for when something goes wrong. Please let us know if you find out more.

Check the commands are still linked to what that command is asking. I have in the past had that situation and replaced commands only to find the TM or industry was at fault. Replaced and named with replacement of command and all was well again. My route that was in 107918 got corrupted with lots of extra track that was not there before. Ive gone back to 106518 and all the ground textures are not linking with each other. It acts like the water did back in 2004 where different levels leave a gap.
