Default B&P Derailment, East Aurora NY

I'm a little surprised there isn't already a thread about this.

Luckily there were no injuries or property damage.

    Some excellent drone footage:

The bridge used to be double track, but the 2nd track now ends just before the bridge. The lead locomotive ran through the buffers and made it across the bridge before it went down the embankment into the parking lot.

Miraculous that it made it across the bridge, rather than ending up on the road below.

I've seen speculation that someone cut the lock on the switch lever and set the points for the disused track. You can see where the switch is at 0:44 in the 2nd video. Does anyone have any concrete information? I'd also like to know what the tank cars are carrying.

Good evening and thank you for posting this info........

As well, the fact Vandalism may be the key to this unfortunate incident. My hope is the person(s) are arrested and charged for the crime.......

I posted a link to your thread here off my site as well.......
