After reading the translated text blurb, the bigger road switcher was brought in to help with the switching duties due to an engine breakdown.

Take note of the switch-lever at around 11:55-12:00. The lever looks a bit familiar!

I like the way the little green switcher, along with a short string of wagons is put away in the engine house at the end.

In the 2nd video check out the track mobiles pulling the tanks and the unloading and loading of the containers. Way cool operations.

Thanks John, I love watching Japanese railway activity, I have a load of live links that I drop into each day.
If anyone is interested I can start a new thread with the live links in.

Wow the freight motorman (or conductor?) is wearing a formal uniform with white gloves....

That would be great if you can do that, Graham.

I enjoy watching these as well.

For what it's worth, that first video you linked is very fascinating, and I'm not even that big a fan of UK railroads.

Matt

It is very fascinating, but I also enjoy UK railroads and German ones as well. The German railroads are truly interesting especially with their awesome passenger trains we could only wish for.

Nice videos. I wonder about those little yellow boppers that are pulling those tank cars around. Empties? I would think the wheels would spin on those little fellas, being outweighed by a long shot. I also wonder what the motors are in those things. Thanks John! Fascinating!
