Adding a Tower for Mission Code timetable management. The instruction in the Wiki say to install an interlocking equipped tower. I installed the CrowCombe tower. Then selected the signal to be the start for the first "golden path". Going back to the tower Properties I am supposed to see an "Add Link" option but none is there???

Hi Dick

The Crowecombe tower is the original one supplied by N3V.

For Mission Code use you need to use the Enhanced Interlocking Tower (EIT) created by 'pguy'. This one has many enhancements added over the basic Crowecombe one.

Hi.

Just a precision, but Mission Code Manager has been designed to be compatible with both standard N3V ITs and enhanced EITs and so there is normally no reason to have difficulties using CrowCombe tower with Mission Code Manager.

But most MCM users come to learn how to configure MCM only after having spent quite sometime learning how to use EITs. So most users uses MCM with only underlying EITs instead of standard ITs.

Beware also that MCM is only a rule to do some automatic enhanced path selection choosing and activating the path to follow in the underlying towers (either N3V ITs or EITs). But the path choosen will only support the functions supported by the underlying tower. : this means that if you use standard ITs from N3V instead of EITs with MCM, you need to forget the enhanced features like exit signal TCB, exclusive sets, … that many users appreciate. And you need also to remind that the interlocking tower enhanced manager rule run time monitor gives the end user only very basic information for standard N3V ITs and will display the current status of the towers paths and train owner or waiting for the path only for EITs.

So to resume, yes you can MCM with standard N3V Crowcombe interlocking tower but without the enhanced features of EITs. And if you want to use the enhanced features, you need to use some enhanced EIT available on DLS.

Hope this helps a little.
Regards.
Pierre.

An added bonus of using the EIT is that it is invisible. That allows for a choice from among a wide range of "scenery only" towers.
