Osean Central Division- Large Image Warning!

Well, after being gone for a good while, I figured I'd take a hack at building a route. I've decided to go fictional on this and make the route based in the alternate realm of Strangereal. I introduce to you, the Osean Central Division.
But for now, I figured I'd show some progress in the... 5-6 hours (?) I've been working on this.

It's still a bit of a rough out, and mainly I've been trying to keep most of the switches fairly wide to allow for large steam power to go through and look prototypical.

Of course, Constructive Criticism is welcomed!

Good luck! I tried route building but I don't have the patience lol. What do you want to do with the route?

Well, it's going to be completely freelanced, but I was thinking of something along the Lake Erie area. Or I supposed that would be more Protolanced.

Decided to do some more work on the route, finally got a passenger terminal in (with sixteen tracks and two bypasses) and two interlockings with double slips for days. Took about 6 hours to do.

Nice start for a scratch made route!
I couldn't help but study the station in the first image of post #7, as it reminds me of another route that had the similar setup, but of course, it was a terminal station that ended:D

Good luck at the route project, hope to see more sneak peaks of the route.

Cheers

Thank you!

I have to say, it's hard to believe the route is only just short of 11 miles long, but even I'm impressing myself with what I'm pulling off.

Well, after being gone for a good while, I figured I'd take a hack at building a route. As of right now, I have no official name for it, but the locale is somewhere in the Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York State area.

Just passing by the Threads when I spotted some outstanding Track work here. Looks great, keep it going coming, and don't forget, give yourself some away time too......

Thank you!

I'm definitely pacing myself, and I'm really just trying to figure out where to take the route outside of the yard.

At the risk of sounding peckish, I will suggest that these humungous yards have real disadvantages. First, the moire is terrible unless you use certain tracks. Second, if you use pbr ballast, the ballast "runs away" from the user at succeeding viewing distances. Third, if you place any significant number of rolling stock on the tracks, the video card will be brought to its knees, especially if some cars are used without properly formed LOD. If you don't populate the yard, it looks weird, in my opinion.

I do plan to use railcar splines for most of the receiving yard tracks and maybe a few in the bowl.

Plus this is why I wanted to share this with the community to have some input to make this route reach it's full potential. That being said, Pitkin, I really do appreciate your criticism and I'll look into making changes to better performance.

For those that haven't seen, I've edited the first post to have the name of the route and it's locale.
Here, November City is really starting to take shape, even if progress is currently slow.

Love that shot of the church.....how did you do your trench? Drop the baseboards down or raise your road splines and buildings up to the top of the wall?

I did it the hard way and raised the buildings, roads and ground. If I could go back, I would have lowered the tracks instead.
