The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train, which is expected to have its maiden journey in 2022, will run under water for a short distance en route.

I do hope that scuba gear and a face mask will be included in the fare!

"Don't worry, son. If you were born to hang, ya ain't never gonna drown". Sounds like one heck of a maiden voyage !

That's actually really interesting, thanks for sharing!

Fortunately, my family and I are healthy. But to tell the truth self-isolation is harder than I expected. Now I work at home and I really miss my friends and collegues. Hope it will ends soon so we could get back to work and seeing each others.
During this time I learned to sew and completed a course in web design online

Welcome to the forums Alisha. We're doing fine in my house as well.

The isolation is difficult at first! I started mine in September 2012 rather suddenly when I found myself permanently out of work due to health issues. I kept in contact with my coworkers by email and even visited the office a few times after doctor appointments since the clinic is only a couple of kilometers from the office; within viewing distance actually across the highway. After awhile, things changed. I found I no longer needed this up close and personal contact and being a hermit by nature, I concentrated more on my hobbies such as Trainz and my music. With the current stay at home orders, it's no different for me and it's business as usual. This doesn't say that I don't like to go out, but the thing is going out everyday for me is no longer a need, and in the end I dreaded the 90 minute drive commuting only 55 km anyway. Sitting in traffic for such a short distance was and still is totally stressful.

Distance learning is a great thing. I took classes for close to a decade online for college credits. The best part was I didn't have to drive in rush hour to get to my classes at night especially during bad weather. More recently I studied piano (again) with a teacher located in Belgium. Our monthly concerts were the best I had had in years. We still keep in contact and I collaborate with him on other projects.

I did notice that you don't show a Trainz version registered. You should contact the helpdesk and get that straightened out if you have used a previous account, or came in from Steam since Steam registrations don't always connect to the N3V server properly.

The pandemic has reared its ugly head in my neck of the woods. I was informed today that my plant manager may have contracted the dreaded COVID-19 and he is waiting on tests. This means everyone at my plant has been put on medical leave pending the outcome of his tests. Luckily we will be paid and they will not take our PTO time. I will admit I'm a nervous not knowing if I have been exposed or brought it home to Mrs. T1O. I guess one of the joys being an essential employee; at least until your infected.

On the bright side with this unexpected break from work I should be able to finish up the new update to the L&A route and hopefully bring it up to TRS19 standards.

Our government has let it be known that anyone coughing or spitting on people could face imprisonment for 14 years. There have been a number of incidents with people getting into a hissy fit and coughing and spitting on essential workers which I think is downright disgusting and inexcusable behaviour.

Same thing is happening here - paramedics, nurses, doctors, pharmacists, etc are getting abused and even physically assaulted (sometimes far worse than spitting). There is also a racist element in some of these incidents with absolute "bogans" (local slang for utter morons) who are blaming Asians for the virus. The maximum penalty for threatening to infect a healthcare worker or paramedical worker with an infectious disease is life imprisonment here.

It's been going here as well. Some lady got into a hissy fit at a supermarket and spit and coughed on some fresh vegetables. Unfortunately the food had to be destroyed, but the good news is she was fined $35,000 for purposefully ruining the vegetables. I wish the fine was bigger and the sentence longer, but it is what it is. We've also had vicious racist attacks going on as well. We have the same penalty as well for crimes against healthcare workers.

I think the charge here is something like Deadly Assault and our Police are taking it very seriously. It seems that a major threat during this crisis is stupid people who are only going to make it worse for everyone by their bad behaviour and putting people at risk of infection. In general New Zealanders are welcoming to people of all races and creeds, but we've still had some racial incidents here with Indian and Asian supermarket workers suffering abuse from idiot customers who think the world revolves around them.
I very much agree that frontline healthcare workers need to be better protected and looked after and anyone assaulting or spitting on them needs to do some serious jail time.

Good luck there and hang tight. There's not much you can do until you get the "word" one way or the other. Let's hope the word is good.

Hi All

pware is right some folks are loosing it and we are no where near the end of this pandemic - Mind you, Australia was once a Penal Colony - what comes around goes around - we are locked down on this island continent with bogans to boot.

Let's not forget that some people also try to drown their sorrows by drinking, and that is making the situation worse. For example, I watch Live PD, which follows several police departments across the country live as they work the night shift, and back in March Pomona County (California) PD arrested a drunk guy who said "You're infected" over and over to the police as he was arrested. And then more recently, another PD that they follow arrested a drunk guy who got into an accident and charged him with violating the "stay at home" order.

I decided to start a new route, based on the geography of Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan. Got the terrain using Trainz-dem yesterday. Located on a tombolo, one side of the city is port, the other side is beach. Several rail lines (the Shinkansen does not go to downtown however because it will later be built north to Sapporo). Hakodate also has a aerial tram from the city up to the top of Hakodate-yama. Several tram lines round out the transit scene. However, my route will be a North American city built there since Japanese content is limited on the DLS and I have never been there unless you count you-tube.

So what is the connection to Trainz you might ask? Hakodate was one of the first Japanese cities opened to foreigners after 250 years of isolation. And instrumental to this was the gift by US Navy Commodore Matthew Perry of a miniature steam train to the Japanese elite. They imported a full-size train and cars a few years later from the UK and have been building trains themselves ever since. That sounds like a cool project. I'm familiar with the Perry connection, although, I didn't remember the city name until you mentioned that here. I'm building a model railroad from a plan I found in one of my books ages ago. I always loved the plan and used to trace it around with my finger when I was a kid. Using Basemapz, I was able to import the scan and scaled it so there's space between the isles. This looks like it's going to keep me busy for awhile since this is my first model railroad type plan.

My trips to Japan are the same as yours not counting an hour stop I made on a trip home from Taiwan in 1987. We stopped at Narita Airport where I bought some lunch and transferred from the Taipei to Narita flight to the international United Airlines flight home.

Yes, I do not understand some people at all. As it is Easter and a long weekend and the need to stay home, some selfish, thoughtless people still break the rules and try to drive km's to their holiday homes and hotspots. Apparently some have "sneaked" there at night too, thinking they will not be noticed going by what some residents are saying. The thing is when the lights get turned on in a holiday house, when they are normally off over a long period, it is pretty obvious what the people there have done.

Anyways my route is slowly plodding along, saw this drawing and have altered it a bit by adding the cat, some colour etc. Leonardo da Vinci would be proud!

it is so easy for folk to eventually get bored at home and family negatives raised - such as violence has apparently increased. Yes one can have a hobby such as us on Trainz but you still need breaks and only getting to a supermarket while routine other places closed is a thing that will bring increased problems. Heavens I am overdue for a dashed haircut! As for me I live myself these days and before long being stuck in is a bore and even going to a supermarket or a short walk is not a solving of things. Swedes are very fortunate as they can do what I like doing and pop into a cafe, restaurant even cinema!

Now being trying to stick to a giant rail project have had for a while but housebound is not a pleasure nor encouraging.

Two years ago (round about) when I developed severe type 1 narcolepsy I went through a time of depression and grief about not being able to do the things I used to do and with the help of our local mental health service I got back on my feet again and was able to accept that this how my life is now so for me living in what amounts to a state of lockdown commanded by my illness and not going anywhere is old news and I'm well used to it. However that doesn't mean that I've forgotten what it was like going through that process of acceptance so I can well understand why many people are having problems with having to live an isolated life. For me though all I had to worry about was having a sudden catalepsy episode away from home, - for the population of the world at present though the odds are higher, - you could die. Those who are breaking the lockdown rules are still thinking 'can't happen to me' and are in a state of denial, - and as a result are willing to roll the dice to see if they can get away with it.
The simple fact is things are never going to be the same as they were. I really don't think COVID-19 is going to be the end of it even after a vaccine has been developed because these deadly viruses are not going to stop mutating so everything about our world is going to have to change in order to prevent another crisis like this one from happening again. Or as I imagine will happen politicians and world leaders will put their heads back in the sand and try to carry on the same as before being willing to sacrifice their citizens to economic growth and it will all happen all over again.

Virtual Railfan has a webcam at the freight depot in Dalton, Georgia, just a 15-minute drive from me. I thought about going down to that webcam with a big sign that said 'Quarantine Sucks', 'Everybody have TP?' 'When's the next train?'. Since 22alpha is the head of Virtual Railfan, I'll probably send him a PM if I ever go thru with it. Here's the inspiration for my idea:
