Trainz Plus Beta 106136 ready for testing

Tony_Hilliam

Trainz Plus - enjoy Trainz from just 20 cents a da
Trainz Plus Beta 106009 to Trainz Plus Beta 106136 is now available using the Trainz Plus patch stream.

There have been no bug reports relating to the new Effect layer tools or Bulk replace tools, and we only have a couple of isolated issues being investigated. This either means:
  • People are testing and not finding any bugs
  • People are testing and finding bugs but not reporting them (Trainz Bug Report)

I totally understand that everyone here is a customer first and foremost, and volunteer beta tester after that, but without your input, we'd be a long way behind where we're at today. So any and all testing you can do is greatly appreciated not just by us, but by the many other users who then avoid the pain and frustration of things not going exactly as planned.

Changelist:
  • Effect Layers preview window now scales up when window is resized
  • Crash fix - TrackJunctionManager> references outstanding. will crash
  • Schedule Rule now working after first stop
  • Update to DriverCommandEntry (resolves failure to load correct station platforms)
  • Fix to train positioning and orientation loading a modified\saved session
  • Fix for loading some legacy routes (Wagga to Henty example)
  • More fixes to ensure turffx shows in the preview window

Known Issues (fixed or reproduced internally):
  • Realistic control overlay for steam locos is too high on the screen
  • Assertion "~GSOAsset> Asset was destroyed before clean shutdown

Known Issues (unable to be reproduced internally):
  • Andrushivka - Vinnitsa UZ" route - broken track
  • Crash with CFD locotracteur sessions
If you have an issue with the current build that is not listed here, then please let us know (or the issue will not be looked at).

Ideally you should be able to recreate the issue in a test map and submit that with your bug report. Alternatively we will need to install the same content set for QA to reproduce the issue internally.

Installed with errors.

Checked for any immediate problems in my test route. Effects with re-sizing works well. Seems to load test route very fast.

Will continue testing using the Hinton route.

Known Issues (unable to be reproduced internally): Andrushivka - Vinnitsa UZ" route - broken track

Can I remind you not only this route is concerned but several ones, in TRS19 as well as in T:ANE.

Can I have an official answer to my already asked question (https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?156970-TrainzUtil-command-quot-prebuild-quot):

TrainzUtil command: "prebuild": iIsn't it supposed to precache content? I run it, let it finish, launch the game: "Precaching Content", open or edit a route or a session: "Precaching Content"...

From the Trainz Wiki:

TrainzUtil prebuild [--force] [--nofail] [--clear] [<KUID> ..]
Precache all installed content.

Extremely quick install, nothing faulty or missing, however did my usual DBR followed by a prebuild before doing anything else. No precaching messages here, all TurfFX present and correct.

Manweb - thanks we'll take a look at your list but meanwhile can you check if anything is listed as payware not active?

HPL - Can I remind you not only this route is concerned but several ones, in TRS19 as well as in T:ANE.
>>
Yes, you can certainly remind us. And I can remind you that we're unable to reproduce the issue as yet. :)

We've had one piece of information that may be related and that is that the problem generally occurs after 1 or more hours in the route.

There is possibly something else involved such as a timing, fps or hardware related issue. The more details we can get about what steps lead this to occur, the more likely it is we can reproduce the issue and from there fix the problem.

It would be good to hear from others if they see the track disappearing in Andrushivka (and ideally how to "force" this to occur). We know it happens for some people some of the time, and we might be able to track down more of a pattern with more reports.

Seems to be running alot smoother than the last version, not sure if anything was changed there :)

No errors at this stage when opening surveyor.

I've got the update installed and now running a DBR and will check content.

I was in fact totally away from any way or form of actual Trainzing or beta testing due to a much bigger project, or should say projects.

With these out of the way, hopefully I can do some testing a bit more this time around.

HPL - Yes we've spoken with Oleg and followed his steps, but not seen the issue appear (even after driving for hours). The video shows it occurring (so we do believe it happens), we just need to find out how to make it happen.

TurfFX works well, made a new layer adding to an existing one and nothing weird happened over the rest of the route. Bravo!
Still unhappy with the lack of a means to turn off texture streaming though. DEM textures turn to blobs within a couple of hundred metres making it difficult to see detail especially from a height.
Back to building in SP1 I guess, then I'll have to export to TrainzPlus to do the grass later as TurfFX layers made in TrainzPlus disappear when exported back to SP1.
Over all very stable so far :)
cheers
Graeme

Dear N3V,

Upgrade to Build 106136 proceeded smoothly and tests on Turffx seem OK. However I have abandoned trying to carry out further tests since my GCR route and sessions are difficult to operate due to a number of minor problems including the following;

Double and single slip points. Having stopped using Andi06's elegant fixed points due to problems with his library which I am told cannot be easily fixed, I now use a combination of TRS19 Trk Jarrah and UK Bullhead-wooden 09 track. This combination appears to work well with the TRS19 Platinum Edition and the non-Beta build. With the latest Beta versions most of the combinations show as Faulty!

Faulty assets - Ok in the Pt Build. These include the following;

S&C Girder Bridge (side) Brick kuid2:35412:38248:5
S&C Girder Bridge (side) Brown Stone kuid2:35412:38246:5
S&C Girder Bridge (side) Brown Stone with Rails kuid2:35412:38247:6
S&C Girder Bridge (side) Grey Stone kuid2:35412:38213:5
Parkingplot kuid2:53695:39000:1
BR Standard Van kuid2:86627:2034:44

All these items are "built-in" in the Platinum edition and other earlier versions of TRS19.

I do hope that these problems can be resolved before the public version of build 106136 is released.

Regards,

Peter.

Tony,

Your edit effects menu works great. I went as far as exporting some of the effects I created in a previous route and imported them into my current one I'm testing. I like the fact that the parameters are hidden making the interface a bit more streamlined. The preview window too is quite helpful as well. With that I can see that one of the grasses I created was a bit too tall - meaning well over 2 meters high! Outside of a great swamp with giant reeds, this isn't something we see normally. With that preview, I then went in and adjust the height down to something a bit more reasonable.

Assertion error when starting built-in Dundee route.

The tunnel splines are still broken. The tunnel portal at the beginning...

There are probably others too. This is still that issue with splines... On my test-routes and my own working routes, I have fixed the problem by "locking" the height of the splines by clicking on the spline-points with the adjust height tool enough to turn the circle from white to yellow, but not enough to move them.

And to be honest there are many, many other things that could be fixed. Since I'm not QC-testing built-in routes, I'll leave it to those that wish to do that, or should do that. This foot bridge, for example is floating, or perhaps there's a platform missing?

And one other before I quit. The schedule text is the size of ants and gets partially blocked by the AWS button and so on.
