Payware Edits

I had a payware map that I really liked, but it need some modifications. I made extensive edits to the map - for my use only! I even kept the route description as is and added notes that I had modified it - again, FOR MY USE ONLY! Along comes an update and now all my edits are lost and I cannot load my saved files.

Is there any way to get those edits back? If not, is there any way to block the download of any future updates to this map. I'm done with it and do not want it cluttering up my PC if I can't use it.

Instead of modifying and saving the original you should have cloned it (which should now be possible - it wasn't in earlier Trainz versions) and edited your cloned version. This applies to both routes and sessions. Clones are created using your kuid code and are not affected by updates to the original.

Yes, I'm aware of that and that's exactly what I did, but apparently even the clone version has some hooks into the original and after the original was recently updated, I cannot load the cloned version.

What exactly happens when you try? Is there an error message of some sort?

Once an asset is cloned there is no connection to the original, but it might depend on some other asset that got updated.

For example, if you cloned the session but not the route it depends on, so if the route is updated then the cloned session could still be affected even though it would not be updated.

I made major modifications to the route - probably 90% change. Removed multiple tiles and added over 50 new tiles. Re-routed most of the tracks. The route was definitely cloned for me to be able to do that and save it. I have a travel PC that I copy my maps over to when I'm on the road and they have worked just fine. Just fine until the update came out.

It would appear that my mods (324956:100021) have somehow become payware and it is not active (authorized).

When you clone a payware route it remains marked as payware but as the new KUID uses your user ID then it is automatically authorised to you. So the problem appears to be that the system does not recognise that number as your KUID. There are a number of ways that your installation can lose your ID, so check in Settings / Internet that your user name and password is still correct.
