Graphic card upgrade suggestion

343 NEVER FORGET
I have some extra money to upgrade my video card and was wondering what you would get out of the two I am looking at. I am considering the 1080 TI Founders Edition or the RX 2070 Super. I am not really familiar with the 20 series so I am curious what would be best for Trainz 2019 Platinum. Thanks for your time, Danny

I running and Asus ROG 1080ti and it runs my video card killing route just fine. Granted, my desktop rig feels like a portal space heater, but still everything runs under meltdown temps. ;)

Both of the cards you mention run TRS19 really well. The 1080Ti FE is an older card, and a proven performer, though not perhaps as good as some of the better-cooled 3rd party vendor (Asus, MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc.) 1080Ti cards. The FE is an older (Pascal) Generation card.
The 2070 Super provides similar or better performance and the capacity to run ray tracing-capable games with greater facility due to the specialist added RTX cores. Turing cards are generally more efficient than Pascal cards.
Really comes down to the price you're prepared to pay. Remember, there's another generation (Ampere) in the wings, which will ship later on this year, which will take performance to new heights.
Upgrading your video card gives you the best bang for the buck in terms of increased TRS19 and T:ANE performance. The CPU is much less important.
So, continue to do your homework to find the best candidate to suit your budget and performance requirements.
I find that this website is one of the best sources of information about the current state of play in terms of video cards: https://videocardz.com/ as it features reviews from all sources and is vendor-neutral.

Either of those will work great. I have the RTX 2070 and love it. Frame rates are good and the temp barely rises at all.

I have a 1080TI which is great however the 2070 Super (Must be Super) is slightly better than the 1080TI in online benchmarks and tests and is usually a lot cheaper and future proof you for the Raytracing which isn't needed for Trainz yet however other games are using it.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I just ordered the Nvidia RX 2070 Super and will be delivered Thursday. Looking forward to Ultra everything.......:hehe:

I've just replaced a GTX 770 (deceased) with an RTX 2060...
TS19 runs at ca. 60 FPS with most settings at high/ultra...

I've modified the fans' thermal response (more aggressive cooling compared to the standard), so it reaches 90% can at 70C.

One thing that caused me a problem was that the RTX card didn't give any video output on installation.
I had to download the latest nVidia drivers using the motherboard built-in graphics system before it would give any output....

Make sure you use the latest DCH driver - then you can install the nVidia control panel from Microsoft store.
I'm now running many apps at double resolution and scaling back.

Enjoy the new card

Colin
