"Missing content after updating"? - Report issues here.

Trainz Plus - enjoy Trainz from just 20 cents a da
There were a number of reports of missing content after patching to the latest version(s) of TRS19 (either SP1, Platinum or Trainz Plus). Our QA have been unable to reproduce this problem, and many reports indicate that things were resolved after a db repair.

We are looking for more details from people who experienced problems, and in particular the detailed steps taken when they patched or installed the new version.

Please include the following information:
  • Original install folder path (e.g. F:/TRS19)
  • New install folder path (e.g. TRS19 SP1)
  • Original local data folder path (e.g. C:\Users\thilliam\AppData\Local\N3V Games\trs19\build hs3rdkqt1)
  • New local data folder path
  • If patching: Original build number > New build number
  • If installing: new build number
  • Any manual steps taken including:
    • renaming folders
    • moving folders
    • copying folders
    • importing content and method used (e.g. .cdp, Open for Edit, copy/paste etc)
    • other
  • Installing content using in-game Asset Download or Content Store
  • Were you prompted for downloads that you did not download?
  • Anything else that might be relevant

You can also make the report using the Trainz bug report here: https://n3vgames.typeform.com/to/xRdryu

I definitely had missing content on a lot of routes (built in and my own layouts) after upgrading to SP1 - a number of trees, for example, were missing. However, it seems to fix itself over time and after I did a 'deep' database rebuild.

Edit: apologies but I can't supply any of the other data at this point, but it's all whatever the installer defaulted to.

Most of my assets were downloaded via the content manager, but there's also a few from 'danwho9' that I had to get via the web site.

Sorry, this isn't very helpful to you :(

I don't have any missing dependencies for the Trainz Plus payware installed. I've installed most of the available packages but not all.

After the patch was installed (to 105100), I had some issues with the Update option in Trainz Content which failed. So I took the advice of completely removing the package, including the appropriate package folder and reinstalling. That fixed the problem.

As I recall, I just patched my previous non beta version of Trainz Plus to 105100. Installation folders are:

Installation: E:\N3V Games\TRS19 Trainz Plus\TRS19
User data: E:\N3V Games\TRS19 Trainz Plus\TRS19 Userdata

If I install beta versions I generally don't bother downloading packages into that installation unless there is a good reason to do so.

Tony, I had a good number of "Installed, Payware - not active" with an installed date the same as when I updated to SP1(plus) - Zec and I emailed a number of times. A "snapshot" of the problem is quoted below. I finally gave up, made a new data folder, and just downloaded everything. I now have most all Payware routes plus a good number of CM Freeware routes re-installed with no issues. I still have the old data folder so if you have any questions I could launch using it once again.

Here's an except from communication with Zec. (We have the issue on "hold" for now since I did a re-install)

I deleted the freeware routes with the “Payware, not active” as there was only 4 or 5 of them (of course, the assets stayed). I then re-installed MSGsapper’s Willson Mills TRS19 route and the same problem arose (which is to be expected.)

<kuid2:124017:10112:3> Dockside Bulk Granular Loader is “Installed Payware (not active) - The other versions are:

<kuid2:124017:10112> <unknown asset>
:1> Available for download, New version available
:2> Available for download, New version available
:3> Installed, Payware (not active)

The above and all discussion till now is on my 105100 “Plus Stream” install. This route was installed when I did the update to 105100 Plus Stream.

I also have a 105100 “Plus Beta Stream” install. It had just a few routes and this route had never been installed there. I downloaded the same route and the “2” version is the one that was installed. Status on it is “Installed from DLS.” A “3” version is not shown when viewing all versions.

I was using the Steam version of TRS19 North American version.

  • Original install folder path D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019
  • New install folder path D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019
  • Original local data folder path D:\Tane_Content\trs19\build bcugyr931
  • New local data folder path D:\Tane_Content\trs19\build bcugyr931
  • If patching: 102450 I think, whatever was on Steam in September 2019 > 105175
  • If installing: new build number

I had earlier disabled automatic updates for TRS2019 in Steam by right clicking on the TRS2019 name in the Steam Client and choosing properties. Then on the updates tab I changed the setting for Automatic Updates from "Always keep this game up to date" to "Only update this game when I launch it".

The day the update of SP1 was released I opened the Steam Client and clicked on the Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 name in the game list. The launcher did not opened but shortly after that a Steam black dialogue box opened saying that there was an update and gave me the choice of "Update" or "Cancel". As I did not want the update I clicked cancel. I started it again and looked for a way to avoid the update but I could not see a way. I clicked update and that opened the download screen of the Steam client and it downloaded and installed the patch. After it was done, I clicked the Launch button on the Download screen next to the name of TRS19. This is normal for any program updated in Steam. I could have also gone to the game list under Collections and click there to launch the game. This is the normal way I start programs in Steam.

Note: I did not see the TRS19 launcher screen until this moment. I chose to click the Start Trainz button in the launcher. TRS19 displayed a small gray box that says Starting Trainz, this is normal to see the box but it did stay on the screen for longer than normal. Perhaps 5 seconds rather than the normal one or two. When TRS19 opened it showed the Asset Download dialogue with a long list of items available, I recognized that I had everything listed that I wanted to have installed so I closed the Asset Download window and clicked on the Driver/Surveyor button. The screen appeared showing me the installed routes. I noticed that many routes had the orange icon which indicates missing dependencies so I click the close gadget of the game window and returned to the launcher.

In the launcher, I clicked Manage Content and CM opened using the Installed filter and I saw one or two assets showing missing dependencies on the top of the list. I changed the filter to faulty and then I saw about 250 items listed. I tried Developer > Rebuild Database first. After it finished I still had faulty items but only about 175 or so. Mostly the missing items were DLC packages now. The Model Railroad routes pack, JR Rolling Stock, Kickstarter from TANE. TANE Asset pack for TRS19, Blue Comet, T1 loco, Duchess loco and a few others. I then did a Extended Database Rebuild with the CTRL key held down when I started it. After it finished I still had faulty items so I decided to shutdown and restart.

This time I clicked Manage Content first and it took quite a while to do something while just displaying the spinning wheel icon. After about 15 minutes it displayed the installed items. I changed the filter to faulty and nothing was listed.

It would appear from the limited amount of feedback (and the fact that these reports all indicate things are now fine) that these issues are to do with either incomplete DLC downloads or the database repair not completing thereby providing a database "in limbo" and showing errors and missing items.

I'm happy to be proven wrong if someone can find another cause.

I couldn't agree more about the incomplete database repair. This question is why do database repairs sometime work and sometime do not work. It occurs outside of patching as well. Seems to be a bit of hit and miss doing a repair.

William

My route WeddinNSW is now showing the following missing dependencies in TRS2019 Platinum, even following a Database Repair. I installed Platinum into a fresh set of folders so I could retain my original TRS2019 install 'just in case'. The Platinum flagged missing dependencies were all Built-In to TRS2019 "Base", and are not available for Download.

I remember back in the Black Friday sale, I had purchased the BR Class 14 for TANE. When I opened Trainz up, it wasn't there, but everything else I had purchased was! Does anyone have this DLC? If so, would you please tell me the names of the class 14 locos, and whether they're on the DLS or not. If I'm led to the BR Class 14 Installer, I have a Mac. And when I ran it through Crossover, it asked me for a product key, even though I never got one!

The loco is BR Class 14 in CM. If you bought it from the Trainz Store, the serial number should be in your list of serial numbers at MyTrainz. It is really old DLC, I'm not sure it works in TANE. I found it in my TS12.

William

Had the same issue. Done database repairs and the usual fixes. About a week later another repair found missing files. Now for I've just gone to Build 116069 and its the same. I've had CM scan all drives and I'm still missing content at this stage
