Help with objects

Ok what objects should be in session only, and can someone help with the saving in sessions. I dont know why this has to be so confusing to save something and go back and have it still be there, or be in one and not the other. I'm in 2019 new update 105100. I made a new layer in sessions called signals and set some signals and saved, when I go to surveyor there not there, go back to sessions and they are there. I have no idea. Thanks for any help guys, I haven't done much of this with sessions so totally lost. :'(

Put everything on the route except consists.

Anything in the session layer is saved to session and some things like instructions are also in the session. When you open the route for edit a new session is created which is blank. You need to always open edit session to get back anything you placed in it. The session layer and session are not the same thing.
