The Aerotrain coaches were GM buses-based vehicles fitted air-cushioned bogies that made for a very rough ride. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerotrain_(GM) I can imagine that the ride would be much better on today's welded rail, but welded rail wasn't a common thing back then.
