Durango to Silverton for TRS19

I now have my Durango route converted over to TRS19. It was fun and fairly uneventful. It was also changed to the 1890's era from the 1930's which proved to be a challenge finding assets that are period correct.

When I started to make a session is where I ran into big problems. No period correct locomotives or working rolling stock. When I attempt to make a rolling stock accept a commodity then submit edits it throws up numerous errors

I am a route creator....not an asset creator or editor. I don't enjoy fiddling with that stuff.

So, here I am sitting on a beautiful route with no sessions. Very disappointing. I am wanting to create sessions like Philskene does for his Model RR routes. I like the idea and process of manually loading and unloading the rolling stock.

Is anyone willing to help create period correct working assets for the 1890's? I need passenger/mail/baggage cars for the D&RGW in 36 inch NG. I need boxcars configured to take commodities of general goods, lumber, metal, dry goods, bottling, groceries etc. I need ore cars. Also need flat cars to take logs, lumber.

Steam engines are 2-6-0 and 4-4-0. Again, in 36 inch NG. I have found the locos in that configuration in Standard Gauge.

Thanks for reading,
Randall

What errors?

If you provide a copy of them - highlight the text, press CTRL+C to copy then press CTRL+V into a text file to save it. Later copy from the text file and paste here in a forum post.

The alternative is to screen capture the errors and upload the image here to the forums for us to look at.

Here is a list of some of the rolling stock I use in my TS12 Colorado narrow gauge layouts. I may have had to modify them to work.

You can ignore the number at the end of the description for most of them.

Well...I got it to work. The rollingstock I was trying to edit was recently downloaded and "Open For Edit". I was then editing the config.txt and then submitting the edit which then threw multiple errors.

That let's me get the rolling stock into the session. I still need working locomotives. I sure hope someone can help out. K&L trains has some great locos but all in standard gauge. Would it be too much work to make NG and SG at the same time?

Randall

I used some dual gauge track, but it is very tedious for junctions, and is directional, of course. Sometimes it works to just park some SG cars next to a NG line just to show the size contrast.

Thanks normhart, I'll check these out soon. Some of them I have already. Prefer them to be DRG but can use others too.

Another issue I'm having. I seem to have inherited a "sound" from the very first version of Durango to Silvertion created for TS12. At Silverton directly over the Passenger Depot is a musical bell of sorts. It plays until player travels out of range. I find it very annoying and have spent HOURS trying to find it so I can delete the thing. I have deleted every object in the area and still the sound plays.

Does anyone else hear this sound?

Have you tried searching the area in wireframe mode? Most sound tiles bury themselves a foot or two under the surface, thus hiding from normal view.

Yes, I have searched the area in wire frame mode. I have also listed the assets in CM and searched for anything odd. The sound is present in the T:ane version as well.

Utilizing the speakers I can zero in on the sound. It is strongest in the area of the Silverton depot.

Randall

I think I found this once in your earlier version. It was some chimes to announce a train, if I remember right. Try searching for my old posts, maybe.

A little searching turned up a couple references to a 3 chime station announce. It may be a sound script attached to the Silverton depot. I used two of them, the original small version and the large modern version.

It seems using the asset starts the script then it never goes away even after deleting the asset. Editing the asset to remove the script is the solution.

I'll look into it tomorrow.

Randall

I'm not having any luck here. Both Silverton stations have no reference to a sound in the config.txt. I searched through scripts and didn't find anything about a station. Searched through the sounds and found nothing.

The annoying "chime" playing constantly is a real game breaker for me.

Randall

Oh happy day!

I found it! In CM I listed dependencies for the route and saved them all to a picklist named SoundTest. Then I created a new route and plopped down every asset until I plopped down platform_announce. Yup....that is the annoying culprit. How it got on my route I'll never remember. This route, Durango to Silverton goes back to TS12. The reason I couldn't find it by visual means is because it is invisible. I think that means it will forever be embedded into the route since it is also a "built in" asset. All that can be done is to "disable" it....as described below.

Go to CM and search for platform_announce > clik on once to highlight > goto top menu bar that says "content" then pick "disable". And the booger is silenced forever! HAH!

I'm getting close to releasing the Durango to Silverton route for TRS19. I will have sessions also......but!

Of all the offerings from Togog only one 2-6-0 works. The rest have no chuff chuff sound. I can't figure out how to make them work. So, I have a session with 6 steam locos all using the same #15 badge.

I've reached out to K&L to see if they are willing to create any Narrow Gauge locos. Waiting for response.

Is anyone? willing to help get Togog's locos working?

Randall

I dl'd 15 and 27 just a few days ago from the DLS. They both ref the same enginesound asset. I get the same 4 cuffs from both in TRS19 TB 100240.

I Dl'd the other 2 DRG 2-6-0s from the DLS, nos 3 and 12 and they didn't make any exhaust cuffs sounds. While marked for TB 2.9 they still used a diesel type enginesound asset from way back.

To fix these two locos you have to edit the loco configs and change the following:
Code:
find and change:
enginesound <kuid:222925:22080>

to:
enginesound <kuid2:126323:53050:1>
Replace the same kuid in the config's kuid-table:
Code:
find and change:
1 <kuid:222925:22080>

to:
1 <kuid2:126323:53050:1>

You also have to edit the driver bogey configs (<kuid2:222925:12220:2> 2-6-0_DRG_3_class35_Shou-wa-no_driver and <kuid2:222925:12320:2> 2-6-0_DRG_12_class35_Las Animas_driver):
Code:
find and change:
direct-drive 0

to:
direct-drive 1
