Rules of distributing content privately

Ok I think I know what the rules are but I just want to make sure: is permission required from the owner to share content privately?

Usually will be said in the license section in the config file.
If it's blank, then it's a strict no, but you can ask if it's allowed.

There is no distinction between public sharing and private sharing - they are both subject to whatever instruction the original creator does (or doesn't!) include within the asset. Sometimes there is a restriction on sharing, such as DLS only, or only to be sent on e-mail request. Whatever, giving it to a friend is regarded as the same as posting it on a website.
