Default Moved Post - Reinstallation Question

I am close to the point of forgetting 2019 due to sheer frustration.

    History:-

Downloaded and installed the release version. Luv'd it. No errors, nothing missing and the only route I am interested in, loaded and ran without any errors.

It seemed reasonably logical at the time that any subsequent builds would maintain this, as any updates would not affect what was working correctly so buoyed by this seeming faultless logic, I downloaded and installed subsequent updates. Instant regret, the route that worked so well before, now showed errors and as far as I can tell this is related to missing built-in content.

The original route author made wide use of N3V built-in ground textures, ones prefixed with 'B12'. It appears there are more than 50 of these. Somebody has boobed,. one of the updates seems to have deleted all the built-in textures, and possibly other content types and not replaced them. This also relates to several structures.

So now I need some advice.

I want to reinstall the original release .

I have removed the user files folder prior to the download and downloaded it 5 times and each time it fails with a "Checksum Mismatch" error.

What could I be doing wrong? Am I being punished because I don't eat my crusts?

Actually I am rapidly losing my commitment to Trainz which is a pity as it is a major (12 hour) part of my life so, please help me..

    Peter,

As far as I can tell you posted this on the wrong thread, and quite likely on the wrong forum. I've split it off to its own thread so that it can get the attention it deserves.

one of the main reasons i'm staying with TANE for the moment , its such a drag trying to replace those missing textures , TANE wrecked a number of my routes thst i worked on in 2010 and 12 texture wise and I fully expected the same to occur in 2019. sorry it had to happen to your good self.

    Malc.

This is the one that I first noticed "
<kuid:565830:110009> (TS12) Oz GrassPatchy Ground". That was definitely not present in the updates and my following efforts to find it lead me to seeing that the entire batch of similar content was missing from the last two updates. I know it was in the original, and I'm pretty certain in the next. I think you are right, I should to be talking about 100240 as being the last good version. It was subsequent versions which have the problem.

I didn't note the original build numbers but I am sure that they were not present in the latest build which is the important point. I don't know what build numbers we are talking about and as all traces of my 2019 installation are off that drive, I can't run the program to check.

However, my current problem and the reason for this thread is that I can't install the original release. Why am I getting the Checksum Mismatch error? Where can I find a download source which is not anything after 100240.

The check sum error is because you have the updated install still on your drive and the new install is a version below what you have. Nearly all TS12 textures are updated on the DLS, some may be in DLC packages.
    .

As far as I can tell, every file and folder has been removed from the drive and desktop.

Just had a thought, could any recent Win10 update be reason for this reload problem. I will try installing on my laptop, that might give a clue.

Thanks everyone, it is after midnight here, I will resume my endeavours tomorrow.

    Total of 71 assets.

Tried a full Database repair, that's press Ctrl and rebuild database at the same time, make take some time if you have a lot installed.

Thoughts, they are not by any chance sitting in open for edit, in which case revert to original.

Any DLC that was installed vanished after the patch?

Moving on, if it's refusing to install due to a checksum error try the full installer, you get an md5 hash you can check, if US is causing the error try the UK one and avoid the online installer that doesn't have anyway of verifying the download is ok.

Also make sure you are not installing over the existing install, either rename it or install to a different folder.

Note: If you have done any route editing in a patched version it may not work in the downloadable one, which I believe is 100240 and not the release version.

The user section folder is not the TRS19 files. Trainz creates two folders, one in the user section (this is the path shown in settings) and one on a ssd/hd drive. It is the one on the drive which just contains data and resources folders that you delete. The other folder contains all your content. When you then install you will create a new content folder in the user section and the launch folder will be on the selected drive. Some updates create a new content folder so you need to redirect the settings path to the original content folder.

The check sum error is because you have the updated install still on your drive and the new install is a version below what you have. Nearly all TS12 textures are updated on the DLS, some may be in DLC packages.

<kuid:565830:110009> is a dependancy of C&O Hinton Division; you should have been prompted to download this route as a T:ANE owner.

I had a checksum mismatch also with a previous patching of my TRS19. This was caused by my antivirus software. Check your antivirus software to see if that's your problem.

Odd, if it is built-in why would it only be available if you download DLC?

For that matter I see that <kuid:565830:100187> and <kuid:565830:100163> are listed as Payware in TRS19 100240 (which is most recent build available to the general public)? They were built-in in TANE.

Old problem in that some builtins were payware and some payware were builtins. Hinton is Payware in TRS19 but was builtin in TANE so presumably that transfers to it's dependencies.

IMO none of those TS12 Textures should be payware as I'm pretty sure they were all originally on the DLS.

I will sort the error later but so far I have discovered why I started this thread.

'builtin' does not mean that it is a part of the basic Trainz program, it means that the item has to be downloaded. Duh! It is only a part of the program until an update takes place when it is overwritten by the update installer.

I started from the beginning on my laptop through to #100240. At each stage different items were labelled as 'builtin', none of them the ones I was missing. I then installed the route I was using which required 500+ downloads which eventually showed me that I had the content I was chasing and now it was labelled 'builtin", why not 'downloaded from the DLS' like the rest of the stuff.

If I had known this, and not been mislead by the content name, none of this would have been required, I would have re-installed the route and downloaded the necessary items.

My background is engineering and to me, names have to be relied on. A 'screw' is not the same as a 'bolt'

Thanks to you all. I hope that this thread has been noticed and this name problem is corrected.

I never download any of the routes offered, so I would never get any of their content but thanks for the thought.

    Hi Peter
As of TS12 SP1, when we introduced the current DLC system, the 'built-in' title can apply to both content that is included with Trainz and content from the DLS that is included in a DLC package. This is due to the fact that when the DLC pack or Trainz content set is built, the content is handled the same way (ie it is packaged with only the .texture files, but has not been marked as payware and not been 'encrypted').

In this case, it sounds like you may have had a DLC pack installed that included these assets, hence them becoming 'built-in'. In TANE, some of these may have been included in the base install, as I think I used a few myself on the Healesville route.

In this case, you should be able to simply right click on the route in Content Manager, then click on 'download' to download any dependencies for the route. You don't need to re-install or re-download the route itself.

    Zec Murphy
