Ground Gradient

Hi guys. Here's an example....I have 2 baseboards with differing heights and i have placed a tunnel between the 2 with a gradient of e.g. 1.5 degrees. The problem i have is how to bury the tunnel so it's not seen, yet does not fill it in with ground.

The smooth spline height does not work as it does with tracks, and for testing purposes i've ended up with a sink hole under the tunnel along it's length to keep the ground from showing inside the tunnel. Having a sink hole under the track is ok for it's purposes, but i cannot cover over the top of the tunnel to eventually hide it. There are 'get height' and 'use height' abilities, but no 'get ground gradient' or 'apply ground gradient' between 2 points -though i suspect this is what has been asked for since the stone age to aid merging routes with differing heights.

So. Any ideas please.

Regards

May we have the names and Kuids of any tunnels in question here. There are 2 styles of tunnels and knowing which one is at play makes a huge difference in troubleshooting them.

Hi. The tunnel is:

LP Tunnel 1t TS12 Kuid2:69871:2097:2

I don't think it will help much as the tunnel placed in 'open space' between 2 different height maps and not therefore laid upon existing terrain.

If yes, you need to manually assign the spline height to the terrain and raise the terrain over the tunnel bore higher than the tunnel's ceiling. Also be careful that the terrain height at the entrance splines are exactly the same as the spline height with the next yellow grid line inwards(both ends) raised to about the same height as the concrete block. (this can be slightly higher or lower to suit the asthetics of the scene) The underside of the terrain is invisible and will not fill in with dirt.

Hi. What i had was 2 different terrained baseboards of differing height, and all i wanted to do was drag out a tunnel from one end to the other. The idea seems simple enough but in practice proved impossible, as it seems a tunnel cannot simply burrow through terrain as it needs to follow a solid base. Two solutions came to mind -

1. Forget a tunnel and drag out a track from one end to the other and applied smooth spline, this gave me the gradient required between the two baseboard heights, but instead of a tunnel i had a valley. I called it 'Table Top Mountain', though i could have applied a further displacement map on top of that.

2. Apply a 'Slope Displacement' which gave me a solid base to now apply the tunnel and to cover it. This only requires some dressing between the joints of the original height baseboards.

So i have 2 solutions now and a choice whether to use a tunnel or a valley.

Thanks for your replies and help.
