Got the Okay for a New Computer

My wife of 50+ years brought to my attention a ad she saw for TS19 North American Edition for $40. I told her that I had already bought it for a cheaper price but my current system couldn't handle it so I needed a new computer. All she did was shake her head which to me, after 50+ years, means "whatever". After doing some research I'm looking at this system. All suggestions and recommendations will be appreciated.

I've had JNCS build my last 3 computers and I'm very happy with their work and their knowledge. The price for this system is $1863.00 USD. What do you think, good price and a good system for TS19?

You need to upgrade to win 10 but that's either free or $30 if you google tomshardware.

I might drop in an SSD but they are reasonably cheap these days. Some of the off lease Dell workstations come with them.

stouthm - Looks like a really good rig proposition to me!
The i7 8700k CPU/ Samsung 970 PCIe NVMe combo is excellent and in my experience, runs TRS19 exceptionally well.
The 1660Ti GPU is a good-value-for-money performer, but you could do even better with a much faster GPU (such as for example, an RTX 2070 Super, which become available next week for around US$499).

In any event, the current rig specs should assure fast, smooth graphics performance at high visual quality settings for most TRS19 routes and sessions.

Specs look OK to me but I would probably opt for a 2, or even 4TB, HDD. Maybe an additional SSD just for Trainz although I think Trainz runs fine on half decent HDDs. I assume the SSD M.2 is for Windows and other none Trainz stuff.

My interpretation of the headshake is ".. you just saved $5 on a game that needs a $1800 machine to run....".

Harley motorcycle riders have a saying "if I have to explain, you wouldn't understand". I think that works for Trainz as well.

I would hold off for the release of next AMD Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 CPUs.
