Norfolk Southern - Sandusky District

Hi,

A pretty nice route, I like it very much.

I just have an issue with the trains coming from the portals in the multiplayer session. All the freight trains that have the "instant load" order that apears in most of the sheduled trains isn't working. The train comes out of the portal and when the "instant load" should take place the train stops working and wouldn't move forever, even deleting the shedule and give them new orders won't work, also the game performance decreases heavily.

Does anyone have the same issues too? We tried it as a multiplayer session with three people and it doesn't make a difference who is the host of the game, so we think it is the driver order "instant load" that doesn't work.

Looking forward to your response and I hope the problem can be solved.

I'm aware of this problem. It's started with the SP1 update for me. Before SP1 everything worked. What version of the game are you currently using? I guess pre SP1 because actually neither single player nor multiplayer should work at the moment (for me). I can't say how it is in a beta version.

I hope that the problems are solved with a completely new session which comes with the next Stage release in some weeks. But be patient in this regard, I got extensive tips for troubleshooting from the N3V Helpdesk (thanks for that). I want to use them intensively to keep problems, errors and crashes as low as possible in the future. First information will be found in my thread on Trainz.de

And some WIPs pics from Stage 2.

Sorry, didn't know about the actual problem.

escd84, this is such a wonderful route. I downloaded it soo after I got TRS-19 and have dl'd all sorts of NS equipment to run on it. Beautiful detailing and track. Thanks so much for this, and looking forward to any expansion!

Thank you for the kind words. I am happy that many like the route and are interested in such a secondary line.

To see the route and sessions where faulty after the update was terrible. But so the motivation was up again to fix everything. Sure it's a small update release (second hump bowl, error fixing, 36960feets more tracks direction south) compared to the last release, but it was necessary to bring a working SP1 version as soon as possible.

The traffic session and the subsequent multiplayer session are currently being tested. But since this will take some time, please be patient. In the meantime you can already pass the time.

Did I try sending you my Columbus route? I forgot what we had talked about but sort of remember possible issues with mine being DEM and maybe having elevation disparities.

hey thank you ESCD84 for the sandusky route. i find it really detailed and excellent. i like the dispatcher session, but cant find the manual for it, i checked the website and found it but when i click on it, it just resend me back to the main page. i was hoping there might be another way to get it. if possible.

Escd84,
I haven't visited the Sandusky route for a while, but once I loaded SP2, I saw there were updates for this route.

I think I loaded up Stage 2, and there don't seem to be any missing assets or anything open for edit. However, before all the updates, the traffic session was working very smoothly. Now, when I open the traffic session, it seems that every engine and train car that are already placed on the map are derailed. I went into surveyor to check things, and found that all placed train cars, engines and consists, have the dreaded yellow X floating over them.

I'm now wondering if the consists that are supposed to come onto the map will be messed up too. I didn't run the session to find out, preferring to check with you first.

Did the updates mess things up or did I do something wrong? Is there a way to fix this? Just checking. I really enjoyed all the trains showing up at the yard and breaking them down via the hump, but if all consists are derailed on the map, there is a good chance that the incoming trains won't be working either.

Well that was a strange year ... until now ... I'm leaving a sign of activity here after I haven't had much time for Trainz since March. After work there was simply no more time for hobbies because work immediately called again.

Before I continue with Stage 3, a little trip to W&LE´s Hartland Sub is made, but only shortly until Monroeville. The route will be extended a few miles by 2 more industries. So again more suitable for the shunters among us than for route drivers. Like on every other version of my map, Matruck created some beautiful object which were not available on the DLS and therefore had to be done.

Also sorry for the late reply, just didn't have time to look in here regularly. I think it will work now? Problem should have been that you started the old sessions on the new map. Stage 2 route only works with Stage 2 sessions. Stage 1 route just with Stage 1 sessions. With the help of Pug I had to redo everything so often that there was no compatibility between the stages.

Escd84,
As I wasn't sure why things were messed up, and I've seen this sort of thing before - all the train cars derailed or all piled in a corner of the route - I reloaded Stage 1 and things are back to normal for that. I think that problems might have occurred because I updated Stage 1 to Stage 2 when CM advised there was a newer route availiable. I'm pretty sure I also downloaded the basic session for Stage 2, but there was likely a conflict somewhere in there.

If I read your reply correctly, then I have to download Stage 2 and the routes associated with it as a separate route, not an update. That makes sense.

I'm really enjoying Stage 1, and the trains just keep on coming in. I've got three more trains to run through the hump and it is already mid-morning. I haven't even gotten engines up to Sandusky to work the coal cars there yet. It is crazy busy and a blast to try and keep up. Talk about pressure.

Thanks so much for putting all these out. All your hard work is very appreciated.

The "Traffic session" from Stage 1 is completely new and has therefore not received an update version but a new kuid. It has also been renamed "Dispatcher". You should try the "Dispatcher" session because a lot has been improved and it is more secure than Stage 1 "Traffic Session". Dispatcher has fewer trains that drive into the yard, but more trains that drive through it. So 5% less pressure :p

And in terms of pressure, my dream would still be that there would only be through traffic and everyone can call a train per button or via an additional console, which then drives to the yard or to the coal port. So everyone can set the pace. But since I'm not a scripter or programmer, it will remain a dream.

On the Wheeling branch, I have no idea whether I published that. In between or only when Stage 3 is ready.

Escd84,
Thanks so much for the additional clarifications. I haven't graduated up to Stage 2 yet, because Stage 1 is such a challenge, and, I might add, so much fun. It has a very realistic feel to it. I'd say you've captured things quite well. The random hump yard switches work well for the system, although it would really be something if the hump switch would break the trains down into actual destinations. Maybe someday that will become part of the system, but for now, it is still pretty amazing.

I had a question about the tower access. When the AI trains (or ones I am driving as well) approach a red signal location where the small orange disk is visible, which will control the signals for the train to continue, the only way I can access the choice of paths is by clicking on the engine, going into the DCC mode for engine control, and starting the engine slightly forward after it has stopped completely. As the engine starts to move forward, suddenly the list of paths for the engine will appear and I stop the engine and then choose the right path, based on what I can see from the engine's command line. Is this the right way to access the paths or is there another way to do this?

Thanks for all your hard work on this stage and the upcoming ones. They all look wonderful.

I figured since you were starting to move south of Bucyrus, I'd give you some latest info on the scheduled trains that run the Sandusky District between Columbus and Bucyrus. Maybe in the future I'll try to do the times on trains from Bucyrus to Bellevue. Note: These are my estimated times based on when I've seen these trains. May not be 100% correct in real life.:D

DD = Dayton District (To the West of Columbus)
FD = Fostoria District (To the West at Bellevue)
TD = Toledo District (To the Northwest at Bellevue)
FWL = Fort Wayne Line (To the East at Bucyrus)

@Heinrich505 How were you able to download stage 1 as a separate route? Every time I try to have both downloaded at the same time, stage 1 updates to stage 2. Thanks in advance for your help.

Gbethel,
I'm not exactly sure, but I think I deleted stage 1 and then deleted the stage 1 main route. I had not downloaded any part of stage 2 at that time. Once both were deleted, I then reinstalled first the route and then the stage 1 session. It didn't update because I didn't have stage 2 installed.

Having said that, then, while I was in CM, trying to remove obsolete assets to lower the number of faulty assets I had showing, I accidentally managed to upgrade the stage 1 route to stage 2. So, there went my stage 1 saved session, which would not run with stage 2, as you found out. Not really having a choice to go backwards, I loaded the stage 2 route session. You might be able to resurrect things if you deleted both stage 1 and stage 2 route and session, and then only loaded the stage 1 stuff, ignoring the notice that there is a more current version.

Long story short, I am now running stage 2 and the default session stage 2, and things seem to be working just fine. I've yet to figure out how to access the diamond crossing controls from the tower being used for the route, but somehow I'm getting most of the consists to go to the right locations.

Not much help, but it does seem that stage 2 is over-riding stage 1, and I think the author has made some improvements to stage 2, so that's probably where we should be after all.

If I read correctly it has something to do with the version of TRS19 I have, which I believe is the North American version. Most of the content you miss are from the DLC <kuid2:122860:100436:27> Canadian Rocky Mountains - Golden, BC. This should be part of your TRS19 North America Edition and should be installed. No more routes than those of the Content that comes with TRS19 North America Edition are required. The rest can be loaded from the DLS. See my post here

<kuid2:45324:400001:2> JR Multi Industry is the exception. You can get it either through DLC Hinton or from here or here

The startup pop-up for the dispatcher session of STAGE 2, mentions a manual that's suppose to be on the webpage, but I can't find it. Am I just overlooking it?

I'm sorry, there is still no manual. Corona has extremely reduced the times for the hobby. If you need help then write your question here. I check them out regularly.
