Tidewater Point Missing 142 Unknown Assets

The title should explain my predicament. I've searched on TKI and with a couple web browsers to no avail. The page for Tidewater Point gives no indication as to where these assets can be found.

To clarify, I have not bought the content pack. I neither have the money, nor do I want to spend $40 in the hopes that it might fix the problem.

Here's the kuid list:

Let's get this straight: I can download the Tidewater route, but I have to pay for the content before the route can be used. Whereas with the other routes I can either download a route and its dependences and have the option to pay for the relavent content pack, or I have to pay for a route and its contents before I can download any of the files. Do I have that right?

You can use the route as it is downloaded for free, sure. However, it will be missing some content if you don't buy the accompanying content pack.

I mean, yeah sure, I guess I can make it minimumly usable after spending who knows how many hours trying to figure out which handful out of 142 kuids are the missing track, bridge sections, swtich levers. and signals.

If you aren’t willing to buy the necessary content pack for the route, you don’t have the right to bitch about it.

My aggravation isn't with paying for content. I've bought a number of JR's payware, and have been very pleased with the quality. My aggravation is having to pay for the required assets of a "free route", with no indication on the product page that you need to do so. All the other routes that you can download for free that offer content packs (Legacy of the BN I, American Intermodal, Cold Creek & Western, Midwest Grain, Diamond River Mining, Pennsylvania & Berwind) allow you to download the route with the required assets and can be used with or without the content pack. The other routes (Coal Country, Eagle River, Monongahela & Western) do not allow you to download anything unless you pay for the content, making it abundantly clear that you have to pay for the route and its contents. There is nothing on the Clearcreek Point product page that indicates that you have to buy the content pack in order to use the required assets, or that the route is essecially payware only. I shouldn't have to go through the process of searching for them before being informed that I have to pay for them.

I don't get why you're so aggravated about it, it's not like you paid for the route and had it end up like this. You downloaded it, for free, and are now angry that you need to pay for it to function. You didn't waste money on a product that doesn't work, so what's your problem?

This is the source of my aggravation, in addition to the fact that being able to download the route for free gives the suggestion up front that the content pack isn't required.

It's what's known as a teaser, and it is actually an offense under the trade practice laws of some jurisdictions. Something is provided for free, or very cheaply, to lure you into buying the product that actually makes the seller a profit. Like razors use to be nearly given away, because the blades are grossly overpriced and only one brand fits the razor. Or under-priced coffee machines that lock you into ridiculously priced capsules, or printers where the cost of replacement ink cartridges is greater than the original purchase price.

First choice is to throw the download away and commit to never dealing with that supplier again. Or, take what you get for free and enhance and expand it with other freeware until you have something that is not only better than the payware one, but is your own creation.

Here's a 100% free alternative where anyone may hunt down all the dependencies they'd like from the TPR download depot.

A friendly reminder too, that users can only download the free route asset from our website by looking at fine print text underneath the big $39.99 'buy' button on the content pack product page...

This is unrelated to Tidewater, but I've discovered something concerning: some of the payware Tidewater assets are actually used in the TRS19 revamp of the full freeware route Datsun Junction. is this the same "teaser" scheme going on, or is there an actual mistake? additionally, if the former is true, then I'm S.O.L. for getting the OG deps to work due to a current lack of funds.

You do realize that you commented on a two year old thread?

Older payware has ended up as freeware more than once.

Datsun Junction was never payware, though. Tidewater's deps still are.

Assets are used in multiple routes, just because an asset was payware in a prior route doesn't mean it can't later be included at freeware in a different JR route. In this case one that was released years later.
