    Default CN derailment outside Saskatoon

Amazing what get captured on dash cams these days. This video shows a Canadian National grain train leaving Saskatoon yesterday and derailing at the highway 11 crossing north of town. The video shows the locomotive approaching and the train passing up and including the derailment. The driver, probably widely, then makes a U-turn in the ditch in an attempt to get away from the train as it derails in front of him.

Thankfully no one is reported as injured in this derailment. But I don't blame the driver for getting away as soon as possible by any route as they didn't know what would happen.

Just one flange jumps the rail, or one wheel defect, and the whole shebang goes into a catastrophic zig zag accordion wreck

This happened in Houston and it tore up several miles of track, with several detached dragging wheelsets caught up diagonally under some of the railcars, that was finally spit out at a RR crossing, to the horror of a motorist in an automobile.
