Help Request - Removing Shiny Skin Effect

Can anyone please shed some light on how I can remove the shiny (and thus obscuring) effect on equipment in Trainz? I'm inquiring about the odd 'milky' appearance of objects at times in the game -- which thus obscures the quality paint beneath.

I assume it must be related to an alpha file but I'm asking for assistance as I'm not yet comfortable with repainting in Trainz yet.
