First PC "Entry level" build in progress by this Mac user - Case, power supply, and motherboard are here.... :

Can't decide between a GeForce 1050 Ti 4gb or the 1060 6gb... Would the 1060 be noticeably better running TS19???

My budget says get the 1050-4.... but for only $75 more why not the 1060-6??

Thanks for you comments...

I would definitely go for the 1060 6GB (NOT the budget 3GB - that won't be enough for decent settings). I'm running it with Core i5 processor, and Trs2019 runs very well with pretty much everything in the settings turned up to High, with TurfFX available and looking good.

Great... thanks very much!

For this "entry" system it seems to me that a 10% added cost to get the 1060-6gb, rather than the 1050-4gb, will yield way more than 10% better practical performance.....

Yes, exactly. TRS19, as with all Trainz versions, is Graphics card intensive. You won't regret the extra investment for a decent playing experience.

Good luck, and a Merry Christmas.

I would endorse the GTX 1060 as well.

The 3 gigs are available from $165 on Newegg.com the 6 gig is $240. 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 is the nice one but having said that your slider settings and the content you use will have more impact. The GTX 1060 3 gigs is better than the GTX 1050 TI which is about as low as I'd go.

Dellrefurbished have a 6 core xeon with 16 gigs of memory for $609. https://www.dellrefurbished.com/computer-workstation/dell-precision-t3600-179446.html it has a directx 12 card in already and you can replace it with a more powerful one without worrying about the power supply over time.

Cheerio John
