@ish6,

I agree with edh6, that it is some sort of bulk load hopper. Seeing that it is a Cargill car, I would lean toward grain, or other other type of foodstuff. The shape would probably assist with unloading.

Such covered hoppers are used to be used for such commodities as lime, sand for glassworks, granulated fertilizers maybe some kind of ores or malt, grain etc. All stuff which require rain and humidity proof transport.

Hehe...

If it had buffers on it, it would be European or British then.

It's a modern covered hopper and appears to be a plastic N-scale one at that.

Na, it's one of those mysterious Sci-Fi wagons from out of the future that I ignore and hope will go away. 1924 is when my railway clock stopped.

I am afraid it is Kato model.

Me too!

It reminds me of some of the stuff I thought was so great back in the 1970s from Model Power with the gigantic oversized wheels and Rapido couplers. :)

Being a Model Power offering, it was made with out of date, well past their use date, plastic molds with parts that had so much flash on them they wouldn't sit right no the model.
