AWS

When I use a BR Class 47 or such, I get a fan, a switch, and a little button on the upper right that were not there before. When I click on the switch, it says isolate AWS in this cab, and the fan gets X-ed out. Could someone tell me what AWS is?

AWS is known as Automatic Warning System - it's a safety system used on UK railways as well as a few others.
