Disappearing Terrain when using Surveyor and Driver in SP2-SP3

I am having problem in late TANE SP2 and during SP3 but was fine is TANE SP1. That when I go into surveyor and add anything onto a large route.
Whenever I enter driver, the terrain starts turning flat and the ground texture starts turning into the grid texture.

This problem occurs on all large maps including built in ones, when you add one or more things like engines, rollingstock, buildings, etc.
Signs of the problem occuring is when you go into driver after you add anything to a session
and look at the map and zoom out, you will see the terrain color changing to the grid terrain. (gray)
Terrain will also reset to flat.

However the tracks and placable objects are still there in their original positions and you can still drive the trains.
The problem does not occur in the sessions that you can get stars in.

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Posting your system specs including video card details would be a good starting point so that others can rule out (or in) hardware issues.

Thanks. I had previously uninstalled TANE and reinstalled keeping my local content but that did not fix the problem. Don't have any problem with any other games. I have several games on Steam that work fine (my TANE is not on Steam) as well as Minecraft and other online games work fine.

I've had terrain disappear when driving and that was definitely a VRAM issue as eventually the entire game just stopped functioning . Your card is pretty elderly and deficient in VRAM, but if you say you can run SP1 ok, its unlikely to be the problem. Have you done an extended database repair ? This can solve some issues.

Thanks Dangavel. I rebuilt the database as you suggested and then tried. Things worked fine for about an hour but then terrain on parts of the maps started to disappear. The problem happens on long maps. One of the example maps I tried was Milwaukee Road and also tried on some third party long maps. When you zoom out on the maps will start going from the grid with green to increasingly having squares on the grid going gray.

Update: sorry just realized I did the regular database rebuild, not the extended. Trying the extended rebuild now.

Never mind, same problem.

You video card is likely the problem. I have an old pc (8 years) and with a 1GB video card it struggled, but replacing it with a 2GB card made major improvements. However, the bigger the layout, the greater the problem will be in my experience.
