Default At historic Hua Hin station, Thailand.

    Old steam loco and tender.

From the script on the nameplate (shown in the next post), I think it is a Baldwin type 282, in service from 1925 to 1966 on the southern line which runs down the peninsula from Thonburi (in Bangkok) to Sungai Kolok at the border with Malaysia. If this image turns out to be excessively large, I apologise, but doing this on an iPad is a joyless experience. I will resize it when I get back to my trusty PC.

Ornate station building, now a museum/library.

Part of the main station building. The line is still active but trains are infrequent, so they don’t mind people wandering onto the tracks. Thailand...

Oh yes,I know the place well. One day I hope to return. You're right, any commit on the dark one would end any hope to return to the Land of Smiles.

“Land of Smells” as my old friend here often refers to it. I’m laughing more at the cheesy policeman statue though.

Best not to given the current political climate there and the Lèse-majesté laws!

While I was in the USAF, I served three tours in Thailand. I loved the country and the people. I took a train from Takhli to Bangkok and back. Very interesting trip.
