Now, if you're lazy and are impatient, you can always get the talent to convert a MSTS model into Trainz. I don't know how, but my friends do. It's for the best, both legally and logically, that you do NOT distribute the asset unless you get perms from the original asset creator. If you want to be extra safe, ask them beforehand if you can convert. Besides, from what I know, there's a NJT ALP45-DP for MSTS/OR (as well as an ACS-64) that are payware. I'd really recommend waiting for someone to create a custom model specifically for Trainz.
After several month later there is my knowledge I have learned on mesh smooth from different games and 3D formats and made this consequence.Converting MSTS models does not work well if it can be done at all. The models are constructed differently and generally perform very poorly in Trainz.
That's mean in 3ds Max:Please note that the Trainz meshes have no support for the smoothing groups in 3DSMax. Use welded vertices to achieve the effect.
