Dalton Georgia featured in Trains Magazine Hot Spots Special Issue

Trains Magazine special issue Hot Spots features places to railfan across the country, and one of those is Dalton, Georgia, the place I railfan. CSX's and Norfolk Southern's mainlines between Chattanooga, Tennessee and Atlanta, Chattanooga pass thru downtown Dalton. Previously, Dalton would see, according to the magazine and personal experience, about 55 trains a day. However, CSX's Western & Atlantic Division, which is the CSX line thru Dalton, is owned by the State of Georgia. CSX would have to lease the route from the State of Georgia, but Mr. Harrison has decided NOT to lease the line, so the chances that you'll be seeing any CSX when railfanning Dalton will be slim, unless CSX decides otherwise, which I doubt will happen anytime soon. Still, the Norfolk Southern mainline has up to four run-thru BNSF coal trains, and a variety of other trains. If you want more info, and other places to railfan around Dalton, post here in this thread and I'll get back when I'll be able to.
