The passing of Ben Dorsey on Saturday 24 March 2018

Very sad news, indeed, but sadly expected I hate to say given the kind of and the extent of the cancer he had. But alas, losing a great friend is still losing a great friend no matter the circumstances. I too send my condolences to his family.

Rest in peace Ben. You were a good friend and mentor.

This indeed is a very sad day.

Oh my gosh... RIP Ben you will be dearly missed.

I never got to talk a whole bunch with Ben. I’d send him a stupid message or to when I first started in the world of Trainz. My first real interaction was when I asked just out of the blue if, provided I found him the photos, he would be willing to do the NKP Bellevue coaling tower. He, of course said yes. Anytime I found photos, I’d send them to him. We struck up conversations since, learned he had a Small Block powered trike! It’s funny to think of other people’s lives outside of Trainz. It’s super cool that we have yet another outlet to meet some incredibly people from across the globe who share common interests. RIP Ben. You will be dearly missed :,(

I never communicated with Ben. But I've used his content, I've seen how well he got along with the entire community, and I saw how much he really meant to everybody here.

My condolences to his friends, both online and in real life, and his family.

Farewell, Ben.

Matt

You will be missed; thoughts and prayers for both family and friends. :( :(
Rest in peace mate, you will be messed

Never heard of him, but R.I.P

He was one of Trainz specialists who specialised on bridges and made his own niche. His bridges will live on after him and there are few routes that don't have at least one of his bridges on it somewhere. He joins a number of other Trainz contributors who have passed away and will be remembered for their content for many years to come. They won't disappear without trace.

7963 assets, not a bad legacy. Many have praised his bridges and trestles but to my mind his innovation in rail cars stands out. While some appear dated now many of his creations will never be matched. The same with his coaling stations and ash lifts as well as the dozens of mines he created.

Oh heck, was hoping he'd be back with us after the treatment.

RIP Ben you will be greatly missed, goodbye mate.

Such a sad loss. Ben created "The Humber Bridge" for me and we communicated with each for several weeks whilst I supplied photo's and drawings.

RIP Ben. A true friend over the internet.

Regards' and saddened Dave.

Very sad news. So many good people have been lost to cancer.

My sincere condolences to Ben's family and friends. Ben, you will be sadly missed but you are at peace now!

Maybe not, but if you drove a route downloaded from the DLS you most likely used his content. He was easily one of the top five freeware contributor to Trainz of all time. His freeware content on the DLS numbers in the several thousands. Anyone who has created a Trainz route most likely owes him a debt for the fine freeware content he contributed toward making their creations happen. He never asked for anything for all the work he did for all of us, including me. I will miss him!

Maybe its time to have a N3V Trainz Content Developers Hall of Fame and I vote that he be the very first inductee into it.....

What more to say other than rest in peace, Ben. I may not have spoken to him directly, but from all I saw and heard of him, he seemed to be one of the most kindhearted members of the community... he will surely be missed by all. RIP.

I am so sad to hear this news, it feels like I have known Ben for the longest time. He contributed greatly to the success of the community.
