Happy Campers!

Have you ever been camping this close to active railroad tracks? Could you sleep well with those big diesels rumbling by your tent all day long and all night long? Keep in mind you will hear the whistle blow as the train thunders past at 25 mph and those GM/EMD SD40-T-2 trumpet-style whistles are hellacious being that this particular campground is right next to a dirt road crossing in the woods.

Note the campfire. A physical model RR can also simulate campfires with glowing LED's. There would be some sort of smoke generators, similar to those in locos, hidden under the bench work with holes through which the rising smoke would emanate. My train room would also be well-ventilated so neither train smoke nor scenery smoke would pollute human observers' collective lungs. Fortunately, Trainz smoke is completely odorless and non-toxic. One could also simulate a wildfire or small brush fire using glowing LEDS and smoke generators as well. Trainz even has a a small wild-fire content. Just looking at the picture you can almost smell the diesel fumes mixed with pine forest smell and burning woody campfire log odors.

If its the norm you probably can. As children we lived in a cul-de-sac 20-25 yards from a London Transport bus depot with a 100 plus buses constantly passing the house and never really noticed them. On the odd occasion when the drivers were on strike and the buses never ran people couldn't sleep for the quiet or slept on because sub-consciously the buses were their alarm clocks. Peter
