Reported SPAM - split from spam post - please read mod reaction and request

More spam has appeared in the General Trainz Section, and again it's a skin care product. And it also appeared around the same time as the previous one yesterday. Promptly reported.

More spam in the General Trainz Section, again. This time it's links to some sort of wrestling competition in Spanish. Reported immediately. Maybe Lucha Libre, a type of professional wrestling popular in Mexico?

What's up with the spam now it's getting really worse I mean right now there's about 4 thread opened by them. I know it will be difficult for non registered user but why don't add restriction at the Général Trainz Section ?

4?
I just deleted one. There were a few more earlier today but I deleted them before your post. Do you still see these spam posts in General at this moment? If so, we might have a bug...

In general (not being the forum):
If you see a spam post, please report it.

When I was writing my post #25 they were 4 yep but it might be a glitch. Anyway it's everyday that these sc*ms come here to spam

When I checked the forum at one point yesterday there were certainly two consecutive Spam posts.

Appreciate the moderators taking action as soon as reported but yet again this is not getting to the root cause and preventing the posts appearing in the first place. As discussed in the other thread N3V and the admins need to find a solution and implement it, even if that slightly inconveniences new users. How long before we start seeing spam for porn or snuff sites and even the relatively benign entries carry the risk of the more naïve user clicking the link, then getting scammed or a virus/malware infection.

A professional software developer needs to be doing better with its own consumer forum, not coming up with excuses why it can't be done.

If it's the one I saw not long ago, I've already reported it (and I'd advise doing that rather than commenting about the spam or replying to the spam posts as that will just bring attention to the spam posts to non-moderators/N3V staff (they get a link to the reported post anyway).

There is more 100 ton-person-sit-on-weasel spam again... that is how I think "wrestling" looks like... and I sent a report,I hope this kind of spam ends soon...

There's no need to as they don't care I mean why don't they ban their IP's or block the general trainz thread for people who own the game...

There's two reasons that wouldn't work very well:

1. IP blocking only works for fixed IP addresses. A lot of people use random IP addresses as that's how it's been set up by the ISP.
2. Limiting access forum wise would prevent potential customers from being able to ask product related questions (i.e. would their system handle it etc type questions).

Yeah VPN but for number 2 I agree but for specs etc it can be obtained via the website without any registration. It has to stop it's really annoying to see these scammers everytime now

I agree the spammers are an issue. The only problem though is that trying to restrict where they can post may have unintended effects to legitimate members who haven't got a registered Trainz version yet (for whatever reason).

I make use of a service on my forum to help block spammers but it's not foolproof and costs a certain amount each year.

Yep it will be problematic to use a cost system as it might make the forum payware and make some users "run" but maybe the issue is to add more features again these bots like multiple verification that ensure you're a human or create a seperate thread for people that doesn't have the game

3 more spam threads have appear. It appears that they now are about not just wrestling, but also soccer and an upcoming movie.
