Hello
I am looking for some development of Rolling Stocks for Indian Railways in this game.
I have some queries, can you help me to sort out?
I have not purchased the game yet from Steam.

1. I have a good experience of 3D modelling for Train Simulator 2018. Does this game have a exporter for 3DS Max 18?
2. From graphics point of view, apart from AO map, Normal Map what are the other maps supported by this game?
3. For signalling and custom scripting , which programming language is used?
4. Can the coding be encrypted to prevent smuggling of source code?

Nobody playing? OK I'll have a go.

TANE now accepts exported FBX files from Blender, 3ds Max and any thing else that exports to FBX, FBX is new to us so there is a lot of learning going on.

It also accepts IM files however there is no exporter after Max2012 I think it is, I'm still using Max2010, so you are stuck with FBX a few threads on fbx stuff in the content creation area.
Info on Content Creation here http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Content_Creation, some of it probably out of date....

Materials, note some of this is for the next version of Trainz http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Material_Types, currently using the legacy materials.

PS. Welcome to Trainz!

Coding would be Trainz script, used to be able to encrypt it, not sure in TANE, It's a dark art I know nothing much about but start here: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Hello_World,_Setting_Up_An_Asset_Script. I believe some of the wiki is out of date so may need to ask in the scripting forum. https://forums.auran.com/trainz/forumdisplay.php?23-Scenario-Scripting-amp-Scriptlets.

May find you have limited forum access until you have a registered copy of Trainz.

And please also clarify regarding other queries regarding the game I posted above. :)
Thanks

So here is what I know, but I am not an expert... By no means is any of what I am saying here definitive...

1) Look HERE, I have tried GMAX, then looked at Blender. I used to be very good at AutoCAD 10 back in the day, this is still new to me. I am leaning toward Blender right now, still in learning mode.

2) Maps... I have been making my own from scratch, but it takes too long so recently have bought TransDEM to make topographical maps, and have had some success, another learning curve

3 & 4) The scripts seem to be unique to Trainz, has the feel of Java or C+, and does not seem to be encrypted, users can edit them for their own use. The people here fiercely protect the copyrights of the content creators, so other can't resell your creations.

I'm sure I'll get shouted out for not being 100% accurate... You still need to buy the product, it's fairly inexpensive, just buy it and then start playing. I am sure you will get hooked, there is nothing like this out there.

exported FBX files from Blender, 3ds Max
Yes 3DS Max 2018 can export FBX. I am glad as DTG (TS18) never provided users a exporter for 3DS Max 18. :hehe:
PS. Welcome to Trainz!
Many thanks.

I am looking to Xmax sale ahead. Might get it.

next version of Trainz
Will they give next version as a free upgrade to current uses?

Is the current game 64bits?
bought TransDEM to make topographical maps
That's good also we in India got our own satellite data in tiff format for end user.
I hope this game allows making natural terrains by importing those tiff or hgt data.
The scripts seem to be unique to Trainz
I am mostly concerned with signals and locomotives with custom scripts.
C++ can be handy but as I am from Civil Engineering background, I need to learn C++ also side by side.

I saw a few latest videos of this game, saying in future they will have speed tree and other cool functions.
