Track Sounds

Steam Nut
After the last patch the track sounds from JR cars seem to have disappeared. Were they replaced en mass or did they bug out like the gyra-lights?

Do you have an anl steam loco like a FEF or Challenger on track?
Try to delete all of them, then try again.

I use JR tracksounds a lot because I have a lot of JR stuff.

But I discovered that when I put only ONE FEF or Challenger on track all the JR tracksounds are gone.
When zooming in to the train and with holding the right mousebutton moving from left to right it sounds like electric disturbance cracks.
Switching from left channel to the right or to the back channels. (5.1)

There's something in the anl steam locos that is disturbing the JR tracksounds.
It doesn't even run, just standing still.

I had this problem also before SP2 and on ALL my routes.
I found the cause of the problem just a few weeks ago.
Routes without any FEF or Challenger were OK.

When I delete the steam loco out of the route, all sounds are correct again after a game restart.

I tested this for maybe 40 to 50 times, and I still can't find the problem with those steam locos.

The 9000's of Bill69 are OK.
Also all the Big Boy's and the rest of the steam locos I have.
Like the ones of K&L. All no problem to have them on the route.

Only the FEF's and the Challengers are causing this sound troubles.

Changing enginesounds or enginespecs of the FEF's and Challengers doesn't help either.

Trains that don't use the JR tracksounds are not affected.

I don't have any of ANL's stuff. I've tested most of my routes and still nothing, or if there is, its very quiet.

Look in the config.txt file for a tag "disable-extra-track-sounds 1" change the 1 to 0 and see if that fixes it.

Not all the challengers have it but some do.

Cheers,
Bill69

That should be only working with the loc that is using that option.
I don't think it will affect other trains.

But, to be sure I'll check all the challengers.

Thanks.

I will report here.

No, that was not the problem.
Only the reskinned challenger by EvilCrow had that line in the config.

I started a route, all trains start running there schedule, tracksounds are correct.

I go to rollingstock icon, chose that same challenger, put it on a piece of track, no matter where and poof, all the tracksounds are dead.
All I hear is that broken electric crack sound.

The sounds are there, left to right, front to back, but they are all broke.

For info,

I had this too on my old computer.
I thought my onboard soundcard died.
I placed a new 5.1 soundcard.
Same cracks.
I even bought a new 5.1 soundsystem.
Same cracks.
Now I have for a year a new machine (see signature)
Same cracks.

GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr ^%$@#&^%*

I always thought it was a TANE problem and hoped it would be solved in future.
But after all the updates it's still the same.

When the anl stuff became free I was a lot busy to play with them.
While doing that, I suddenly discovered the cause of the problem.
No Challengers or FEF's on track, NO sound problem.
Jippie, jippie, I found the cause.
But I can't find the solution.

Like said above, as soon as I put one of those locs on the route, in a split second the tracksounds are broke.
I can only repair the sounds by removing the locs and restart the game.

Very very annoying this.

I like the big steamers, I want them on track, but only if this problem is solved.

So I'm in need of a Trainz-Goeroe,

wkr

Richard
