What type of horn is this

I'm not great at identifying horns by sight alone, but I believe it is a WABCO single-chime horn of some sort. Possibly an E2.

Is that a C&NW locomotive?

it's a Nathan P2 on a gullwing manifold. A few railroads ordered these on their alcos.

BLACKWATCH, No, Here in Britain they are the type that go HEEEE__HAAUU__HEEEE__HAAUU. :hehe:

Train horns in my neighborhood, if you have your windows open, and if the wind is blowing toward you, absolutely startles the bloody bajeesus out of you at 3:28 AM ... especially when a CSX freight train goes into emergency braking 500' away ... it almost gives you a coronary heart panic attack jumping out of bed ... lol

Cascaderairoad, In Britain we do not get any of the various sounds you so well demonstrate in your above posting. As I stated in my posting at #9 of this thread, our trains only have horns that go HEEEE---HAAUU--HEEEE--HAAUU

However, traveling down from London last week at one time as we entered the Box Tunnel traveling on an intercity service which was no doubt doing well over 100mph, the horn sounded as HAAUU__HEEEE__HAAUU__HEEEE.....(note the suttle difference).

That stated, very occasionally as they leave a station the horn will sound as very short HAAUU__HEEEE__HAAUU, which makes for a very entertaining variation.:D

Hi everybody.
There's a thing on a computer called 'GOOGLE', try using it sometime, it's amazing what you can find on there, I found this for you in 30 seconds ............. http://www.dieselairhorns.com/collection.html

BLACKWATCH, I have to agree with you 100% in regard to the power of "GOOGLE". Any person only has to enter the "magic search criteria" and ninety nine times out of one hundred, all is resolved.

However, I can see where the opening poster is coming from in regard to the serious attraction of pneumatics and the sounds it can create. In the foregoing I have always found it fascinating the sound any inventive human being can bring forward simply by harnessing the power of wind.

When fully considered it has to be realised that many an unusual if not unique sound has be given to the world in the above-mentioned manner :)

Scientists now state that it all happens at approximately 7mph, it's only the aperture that governs the pitch. ;)

Hi cascade, BLACKWATCH and everybody.
In the UK, do you have horns that go: "BeeDoh BeeDoh BeeDooh BeeDoh BeeDoh"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5m3f8NsFUY

Cascade, BLACKWATCH is quite right as we do have horns that go BEEDOH--BEEDOH-- BEEDOH, as the following Google quickly found video graphicly demonstrates. They can even do it in reverse as the video also demonstrates.

However, I believe those sounds are generated automatically and electronically. Sounds generated by wind power are brought into being through human action, by way of natural ability or on occasion by accident. Trombones, Horns, trumpets, Flutes along with other audio creation method's come to mind, which can give the world so many wonderful sounds generated by sudden below chest level muscle tension or relaxation.
