Need advice for Narrow Gauge Train selection (T:ANE)

Good Day all,

I need some advice on Narrow Gauge, I normally do Standard Gauge Routes, however I decided to delve into NG Routes for some diversion, I have Snow Creek & Mine Camp Routes (Trainless at the moment)

Please don't laugh too hard, but out of all my inventory of 417K Assets, I found I didn't have one Narrow Gauge Asset installed!

So I would like your suggestions on what might be some NG assets that work ok in T:ANE environment? I am even open to some Payware suggestions as well.

Steam, Diesel is fine, just like to download better items that Junk stuff that doesn't work well in T:ANE. I believe the Grades in the Routes our 5% or less from what I see at the moment. And they are under Repair because of Transition from TS-12 to T:ANE.

And hopefully I put this request in the right section of the Forum.

If you want a route the Clam1952's Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland is worth getting. I have a number of sessions and consists available for that route.

The strange thing about Trainz NG, is that excluding the excellent WHR/FR stuff by Malc and Ed (clam1952, edh06) the coverage is quite patchy at least on the DLS. For example we have loads of 760mm gauge infrastructure resources, but not much in the way of motive power or passenger rolling stock. Same with metre gauge - we actually have a metre gauge procedural track but, outside of a few RhB resources - some of which don't work in TANE - there's precious little to run on a route. I still hanker after building some of the old Yugoslavian ng routes but without something at least resembling the stock which ran on these lines, a bit pointless. (The exception being the Ohrid line which was 2ft gauge and the WHR stuff could substitute).

Thank you for your candid remarks, it brings to mind, another post in the past that mentioned there wasn't a lot of Livery available.

Looking for Garret NG Loco Info?

First I want to say thank you to all for input on NG Routes Etc, it has been a great help to me.

So I ran into these over the weekend, and I wondered if any of these are available? Payware is OK too. And there is something similar to these, that's fine too?

I'm hoping there is?

What gauge are you looking for? Anything between 15" to 42" is narrow gauge.

What's on the DLS

2 foot

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway route and all locos and rolling stock including a Garratt

The entire roster of the SRRL railway.

The Northbay County route containing a Shay, and a 2 ft NGG11 Garratt

A wide range of Australian sugar cane railways locomotives and rolling stock.

2' 6"

The entire roster of the "Puffing Billy" railway, three Garratts and 3 Prairie tank locos and freight and passenger rolling stock.

3' 0'

Too many to list but you have to look for them.

3' 6"

Chilean Nitrate Railways 3 Kitson Meyer locomotives and rolling stock

All the Australian Queensland main line railways are narrow gauge, again too many to list.

At a rough guess my content will be about ~250 items To locate my content search for user name 'narrowgauge' user ID #44700

There is also Trainzone with many more items.

What specifically are you looking for?

Thanks for the Garret Info!

Thank you Gentleman,

This more than I could have asked for, :D

I will go thru and do the search, and I believe it is 2Foot Narrow Gauge for the Garrets.

And download the listed Routes that you indicated having the Garrets.

For example we have loads of 760mm gauge infrastructure resources, but not much in the way of motive power or passenger rolling stock...

There's a fair bit of rollingstock out there on the DLS for 760mm/2'6" but due to differences in how people name them, they may not be immediately obvious.
Not everything has a gauge marker such as '760mm', '30ng' or 'ng30'.

Try searching for 'OEBB' and 'OFZ' for example and you'll pick up more in the way of 760mm locos (steam & diesel) and extra rollingstock.

While we're at it, can anyone recommend any procedural track for 2ft (24in/610mm) and 2ft 6in (30in/760mm) layouts?
Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry for the late reply jumping back to this, but that's the ill-fated 3'6" Australian Standard Garratt (ASG), the Trainz version which I believe was made by NSWGR_46Class, in both powered and non-powered 'carriage' versions, which are both available on the DLS:

3'6" gauge version: front engine unit/tank KUID:73150:101184 , boiler/cab unit KUID:73150:101185 and rear engine unit/tender/tank KUID:73150:101186
Non-powered version (uploaded by elstoko): front engine unit/tank KUID:368725:15003 , boiler/cab unit KUID:368725:15004 and rear engine unit/tender/tank KUID:368725:15005

Also have a look for narrow gauge items on the DLS under 'WAGR', 'Westrail', 'SAR', 'CR', 'TGR', and 'QR' as there is a wealth of Australian narrow gauge content there (those are the narrow gauge rail systems of Australia), you just have to know where to look. ;)

There are a few locos and cars for Denver and Rio Grande Western and Rio Grande Southern, and a little bit for the East Broad Top. It would be definitely be nice to have more US narrow gauge content. Just found this, comparing a NG 2-8-2 to a SG loco. 472 still runs.
