Greetings.

Like people, even non-living things can grow old and die, often when they've outlived their usefulness. And much like people, it's often easier to just forget about them after leaving it behind. This week's theme is Abandoned. Please send your theme suggestions for subsequent competitions via email or Skype by clicking on the little icons below my username.

One screenshot allowed per entrant. Screenshots must adhere to the theme and the Trainz Forum Code of Conduct.

Submission closes on February 26 at 12:00 noon UTC/GMT/Zulu time.

Abandoned steam locomotives facility

The ASGs were introduced in the 1940s as narrow gauge Garrett locomotives that could haul anything, but within a decade they lay abandoned on sidings around the nation. Poor design, poor reliability and unpopularity with crews saw an early end to these steam giants. Of the 57 built only one survives as a static display. Conara Junction 1955, in Tasmania, was one of the final resting places for the 14 acquired by the Tasmanian Government Railways.

This abandoned park once had children pointing in awe at the dinosaur figures while chatting excitedly to their parents. Now there is no chatter and the dinosaurs stand forlornly in the long grass overlooking the rotting buildings.

Sitting mostly untouched for just over 2 decades is gonna hurt. Old branch now sits completely abandoned and likely unrecoverable.

Cheers,
