Layout Bashing or how to get more enjoyment out of Trianz Model Railroad....

This apparently came in with my payware - Jointed Rail's Legends of the BNSF 1.0 content.

Sorry about that and figures.

I can't see if this has been asked before but would you consider uploading your session for others once it's finished? I rate your work very highly and it would be fantastic to enjoy some time on it.

Intermodal HEAVEN.............readers may not realize this by this thread but I LOVE intermodal trains......unfortunately using TMR17 I was limited to only a few sets do to product load errors that can drive you crazy, below on the left side (sets of paired wellcars) that would not show because of these "conflicts" with their loads............on the right side were the sets I could use without any issues...the second picture is a close up of the above
mentioned non working non viewable wellcars until fixed (shown empty)...

I managed through trial and error to replace the config files with other product loads I had and tadahhhh,,,,,it worked as you can now see they have been put to service...

The problem wellcars for me were made by the following;
davidakrigge, robin_hoods, dave snow, and btvfd (reskins of dave snow's model). Now their wellcars look correct, I do not know whether they are interactive or not,,,,test for another day, I am happy just to see them like they are suppose to be.

To achieve getting the wellcars functional, you need to edit the config.txt file that shows the products the wellcars use such as the ones below in the bold text that did not work for me......there are 2 places where they show up in the txt file:
Note: I downloaded several different versions of products/loads and to be honest the one that works for me starting with <kuid2:334896:120002:1> I can't remember where it came from) But all you need is one working wellcar that loads properly and copy paste the product kuids for that unit to the config file for the wellcar that isn't working.

I then replaced the non working kuids with the ones below, note the second set starts further down and it is important you change only the kuids for the products and not the others or it will not work. You need to renumber the second set on the leftside 0, 1,2,3 etc..to replace the previous kuids but it only takes a little effort to get the cars working..make sure you save then use the "submit edit" button when finshed, it ...as always make a backup copy of your config.txt file before making changes (or use the revert edit button.)

Thank you for the compliment, and yes hopefully in the near future the revised layout will be released. I am working on the final stages of it and look forward to setting it free :D

On the well car issue;and in T:ANE, total products and other items in the kuid list can not exceed 100 if it does the red bug will appear. Also, if the total load per queue in the allowed products exceeds 8, you will also get a red bug when you try to add the 8th product, also the product menu will be empty.

My problem was the cars were not even appearing because the product/loads were either faulty or the dependency could not be found anymore which leaves you completely with a useless piece of rolling stock. I had one issue where I had downloaded 59 of 60 loads/dependencies and because I was missing 1 load/dependency the car was completely useless and would not appear other then the thumbnail with the red text under it on the side panel.
I am thankful you can remedy that issue with the config file. I went from 3 different wellcars to 12 using that simple config edit.

And regarding the redbug issue, I noticed if you switch drivers that will usually remedy the problem....but still a hassle nonetheless. Thanks for information on loads/products !

 Excellent info on Cabooses and Well Car Loads, I wasn't sure what the threshold for products was in the T:ANE environment and I hate the Red Bug, it spells lots of problems at times, so now with this new information, I can solve those problems with reorienting the config.txt.

Keep up the good work here! :Y:

Oh and as for the Cabooses, ;) I will go check slabay's they look real nice, and I'm sure I have some old ones that need to be retired.

blueodessey,

You can get the BNSF terminal caboose in the ballast train above at http://trainzdivide.weebly.com/cabeese.html and they have a Chicago and Northwestern version. But you will need new bogeys since the dependency link is invalid.....use this link for more info:

https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?138140-Missing-Kuid-for-BNSF-Terminal-Caboose

Thank you sir, I really like these, and I just happened to download the "kuid:156765:100552> Bettendorf 70 Ton Caboose Truck Dusty" ones, a week ago for some other cars that needed repairing they should work out real nice.

Now I want to make myself dedicated BNSF ballast train to the rescue..........

Looks great with the Terminal Caboose at the end...........You run a classy operation there!

Update: Friday Morning,

Got them downloaded, added some "bettendorf_70_ton_caboose_truck_dusty.cdp" wheels, found BNSF Flatcar and some hoppers, filled with Gravel, we are on our way to do some much needed MOW for Merge repairs. Thanks again for helping me find these really cool cars.

Weathering tips that are painless.............................................................below is a picture of an Amtrak MOW Ballast train

I like having the same type of car in a consist such as the ballast car for example. But having the same color scheme can get old and not look very realistic especially if you have several latched together.....I remember always seeing an Amtrak MOW train somewhere along the Northeast corridor between Trenton NJ and NYC. And seeing faded ballast cars along bright new ones...

Above: if you look closely are 2 different shaded ballast cars that look really good next each other when coupled together...the one on the left is the "stock" version while the one on the right is altered to be slightly "newer"

Above: Same for the work cabooses....

First make a clone of the asset you want by opening manage content and highlighting the piece you want to modify. Use control+d to clone it and rename it in it's config file so you know its the clone.

To get the weathered effect is pretty simple, I use a free editing program called paint.net and once it is installed I again choose "manage content" from my TMR17 startup screen. Next I locate the asset I want to change by right clicking on it and choosing open for editing and "show in explorer"

The asset file will then open, just locate the tga file (normally the "body" folder) click on the TGA and paint.net should open it. Next just adjust the hue/saturation and brightness/contrast controls at the top till your happy with what you have, Save it and click the submit button to have it added to your collection.

Subtle changes to the colors/shades add more realism and are relatively easy to achieve.

Now when I modified the ballast car I noticed no running numbers showed, no problem, use the "?" and manually enter the number and it will appear. You can make faded effects or shiny new models...all up to your
imagination............(Note: I was told this can only be done to added assets not any that were originally installed)

Work in progress...this takes a lot of patience in adjusting colors....but you can get an idea where I want to go with the following pix of a converted Amtrak baggage car for Mow use:

Some tweaking in the color department and this will be good to go............

Revisions for Amtrak Mow....finally getting the results I wanted, have 3 different ballast car versions and the baggage car now more uniform in color....

Above: Some reference photos...
