Making a route

What I was referring to was the the slope displacement map and how to rotate it in increments less than 90 degrees(the default rotation is in increments of 90 degrees).

The different brush types? More specifically the slope one? No idea there. I don't use it, like ever. I seriously doubt that even the pros use it. Usually, instead of that particular brush type you would use track for terrain or the plateau feature to get a large slope. A couple links to YouTube videos that demonstrate what I mean...
For plateau: https://youtu.be/Bd6yK96HCSw
For track terrain: https://youtu.be/D8R2p0BDQ-M
I know that they are not straight out tutorials but, they demonstrate both techniques very well.

There's no way to rotate these in smaller increments.

I recommend creating your own displacement maps.

Clone another Ground Brush as they're called.

Replace the image you create with the one that exists and keep the same name.

Call the brush something else and you've got yourself your very own displacement.

It's pretty easy, actually and can be a lot of fun. You can use a photograph if you want which can produce some really different landscapes, or a fractal-generator to make mountains and valleys, even better use a photo-editor and paint your own landscape. The options are nearly unlimited.
