Disney Train/Country Region List/La Fonde Regional RR/Kauai 2008

Good Monday Morning,

I hope everyone is doing OK, unfortunately a few of our Family Members caught Covid, as I see the numbers are up in USA.

On the lighter, happier side of things, Looks like Disneyland has added some new Tracks? For Tron with one of my favorite Locomotives.

https://wdwnt.com/2022/11/photos-vi...egins-testing-new-track-and-tunnel-near-tron/

IF you take the Link it has some cool Pictures on Construction.

As for other things, I have been going thru my numerous Routes, and making sure that Category Region is reflective of what that particular Route is.

Hiawathamr La Fonde Regional RR, nice little Payware Route lots of Shunting opportunities.

I took this picture because I liked this particular Switch Stand, I needed to add it to my one of Pick lists.

We are doing a Tanker Run and Weather has changed to heavy Rain Storm.

And on the same day, we have a Grainery Run Session to complete.

La Fonde Regional

This is much older Island Route, done very nice, and I enjoy playing with it.

Authors Notes:

The whole Hawaiian island of Kauai is modeled here with a fictional standard gauge rail network added. There are also a number of aerial tracks for sight-seeing flights around the island. The DEM-based map is scaled to one third the original size to fit the island into a reasonable number of base boards.

The original Kauai 2008 route (kuid:68213:100008) was developed using TRS2004-SP4. This updated version has only minimal changes to make it compatible with T:ANE. It uses no payware, and all assets are either built-in or from the Trainz Download Station.

My thanks to Adam Wojcieszyk (Tolaris) for help with the original HOG/DEM work, J R (Rob) Crawford for signalling tuition, music objects, and the Hawaiian state flags. Thanks also to Dave Drake for the bananas and coconuts!

I didn't have enough room for you Tube the Region List. So that'll do it for now. Enjoy your week, next Weekend will Celebrate Xmas....Wow has this month gone by quick or what?

Hello Blue, do you have routes from all those countries? really?.:confused:
About the screenshots, I like the NH trains and I have the Talgo NH that a fellow forum member made.

Interesting about the Disney train.

Thank you for your work and hugs from my side of the pond (cheers to Mrs. Blue) :)

Hello and greetings from across the Great Pond,

I like the New Haven Assets too, very cool stuff made by one our great Modelers.

Apologies for misleading you on the Country Region List, I have 80-90 Routes, I need to clean out some I don't use or lost interest in! :(

I don't have anything like all those Countries listed, probably 15 countries or so........

What I was trying to say, is Trainz has huge index list here of most of the; if not all? the Countries, States, Islands of the World

If you lived in one of these, or modeled a particular area of interest, you could find a name to satisfy the Route you created and it would be more descriptive.

What I am doing on my Routes, is trying identify the areas they are from, instead of Regions named "Generic" "Custom" Etc........

The other thing I am trying to do with each Route, if I find something that has no description, I try to find out where this Route is from, by possibly the Name of it, and then look up Wikipedia, and lots of times find out much more about where this Route is from and what significance it has in Rail Road Historical Aspect etc. Rename the Route with Name more suitable.

So when I peruse my Routes looking for something unique Etc, I can find it much more rapidly, and quickly read description. Just me being a Knit Picker and my OCD Brain........

I like databases, and always tried to input as much helpful or relevant information to draw from on projects, especially from my work I did for close to 30 yrs with Databases and Reporting/information gathering etc.

Disclosure, I am not a Programmer, just a tinkerer of things that catch my interest, keep my Brain Cells in tact as much as I can, not getting any younger that's for sure......:hehe:

Hope that explains a little better at what aspects I was trying to introduce here?

Mr's Blue is out doing last minute Shopping for Xmas, now if we can survive the Holiday Hustle and Bustle, will get ready for New Years in Time......:) I'll pass the message to her.:D

Hugs to you and Family with wishes for Blessed Xmas Javier.

Hi Blue,

Just want to thank you for sharing your content for all of us to enjoy :D
Hope 2022 was good for you and Mrs. Blue. Time to get ready for 2023 which will be interesting.
Going to wish you both an early Merry Christmas :)

Cheers

I understand what you're saying Blue, I think we should have systems to promote the work. With so much route everything was possible.
About the regions I have been placing the exact one in my work for a long time and one thing I have noticed is that we should be able to put at least two regions (due to international rolling stock).

Thank you for the Christmas greeting my friend and I wish you a holly and happy night in the company of your loved ones.

Merry Christmas!

Category-region" tag help files

Good Evening folks,

Xmas was nice, had a lot of Family from here and other parts of the Country, this has been one of the busiest Xmas's in years. And we finally finished all our Reno on House and other necessary repairs on almost 60 yr old home. Homeowners work n repairs is never done.

Hope all of you are in good health. :D

@hiawathamr Thank you for the kind words my friend, and will see how 2023 turns out for us?

@Javier I'm posting the link below, and it says you can have multiple names in config-region

"single ("UK") or multiple codes ("AU;DE;UK;US") in a quoted string" I haven't played with multiples yet, wanted get good with Single Codes first.

About Category-region codes

Category-region codes are a single ("UK") or multiple codes ("AU;DE;UK;US") in a quoted string that is included in the config.txt file for user defined filters.

  • Assets with narrow single country scope would contain a single code after the tag name.
  • Assets which were widely found in many regions (e.g. 'Caterpillar D7 bulldozer', will list the series of country codes of the region.)
    • The codes have only a minor importance in TRAINZ and are primarily used in Trainz as a sort and selection criteria in user defined filters.
    • These codes do show up under the region column in Content Manager where they can be included in defining filters one can also use in Surveyor. This eliminates looking at undesired assets when focuses on developing your routes.
  • For content that exists in multiple areas, when creating new assets, select appropriate codes in Content Creator Plus (CCP) or hand edit them into the config.txt ini files.
For example a locomotive that was available in the United States and Canada would be specified as follows: category-region "US;CA"
One that was available in Australia, Canada, the United States and in the United Kingdom would be specified as follows: category-region "AU;CA;UK;US"

Enjoy your week, and when I get things caught up a bit with Holiday Cleanup, I post some Pictures and Y Tube.

Happy New Years day,

Have get used to writing 2023, what a fast year it was.

Been busy trying to do some things with Trainz,

I found out if I wanted to quickly see Large Routes Quickly rather than trying skip over the tiles with Pointer, you can just open Map window, hold "-" minus bottom and watch the Large Route shrink with less than a minute to size shown. Point n Click on Route in Map Window, takes you to any part quickly. Just another way to move around fast.

Here a very large Route, if I got the information correct, about 800-900 Miles long. Problem, too much Route for my Graphic Card, secondary problem, I like the Route.

Potential fix, cut into 3 sections,,,too much work. Or cut off 2/3rds and forget about the rest. When I open the Rte, it took 3 full minutes or more to render the tiles into CPU Ram. So I figured if I could trim the long Fingers of the Route off and keep Central Chunks of the Route it might just work for me.

Forgot to mention, This was a DEM Route.

When all the cutting of several 100 tiles was done and saved to 2 Separate pieces shown here, I cut off two of three long fingers, straightaway sections. Left with one long one on top of Merge Map View, and other small section. I merged them together and Route is now size I can play with.

Now in another situation, I have a Route that is long and Skinny and it seems to me, Trainz has problems with these type of Routes way stretched out. I found a different way to condense the Graphic area this Route takes.

Copy 4-5 tiles into new blank tiles added so the Route can be built in parallel rows instead of one extremely long Row. It will take several tries sometimes to get your copied Tiles to come close together, looking at these 2 blocks of Copied tiles, you can see the tracks are lined up pretty darn close. This different from when you do Merge of Routes together, but the idea is same, to get things lined up, additionally, if you want, you have blank Tiles in between you could that two. Play with it on small scale. I remind you, it is really is only good for long single section of Tiles.

As you can see here, I didn't line up quite right, so I had to redo it a couple of times till it got the edges to line up better, it takes some time to do this, I won't kid about that, I just wanted to see if I could do something with the way some single tile string Routes lay out. And it worked for me pretty well.

Over here, I just made my copy tiles on each 1/2 of River Wash, it made it easier to repair the Texture afterwards.

It is not easy but several 4-5 tile pieces copied, stitched together will make a new Row below the Main Row. The Trick if you will, is use this "[" key to rotate your copied area of Tiles so they can flow opposite or sideways to form the outline of your new Route. This would only work with single tile or 2 tile wide long sections. Anything wider, your Ram can't handle it, at least in Trainz 19.

The last thing, try not to copy 1/2 sections of Bridges, Roads, etc, else it leaves those Assets out of Copied area. (Feel free to ask questions if some of what I explained here is not quite clear.?

When you copy your Route Tiles over to different section of Route area onto new Tiles, do not delete original Tile locations, leave them there, so you check and make sure everything copied OK, you might lose Bridges, Tracks, other Splines, that you'll need to select the Asset again and reposition onto new copied Tiles.

That'll do for now, I got some good Y Tube stuff to post.

Have a great week and thanks for dropping by.

Happy new year "router". :hehe:

Good Morning my friend,

As we age, health is one of my most important Mantra's our Brain like everything else, Muscles etc age, too what extent, varies by Person, Genes etc.?

Most important for me, as is possible, I know I am older and Slower in some things, so I try my best to keep my Brain engaged by learning as much as I can and Exercising it.

Glad you liked the Country info,

I just went thru all my Routes, it looks like 650 entries using Route only no Sessions in Content Manager, using an average of 3-4 copies of each Route, I figure I have about 150 Routes, bare in mind, that many of them are small 1-5 Tile mini Routes which gives lots of ideas for special areas on larger Routes for interest. I enjoy seeing what other folks create in small areas......:p

Painful to admit, I know, I have too many Routes and need to clean out the Cob Webs along with getting Rid of, and it will take a long time, Asset Versions below 3.7 too, since we are up to Version 5.1 which is TRS-22 level.

My Asset list has grown from 325K to 652K speaking of which if you notice the size of Assets with PBR, high quality builds. I am thinking of going to 4TB SSD's this year. I don't want to end up with stuffed hard drive or worse yet. Computer Failure.

Already looking at this Laptop for later in the year, to replace my old Asus Strix 17 GL703GE, with NVIDIA 4Gig VRAM to one with 6 Gig VRam, RTX :Y:

Device name Desktop
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable)
Device ID Asus Strix 17 GL703GE
Product ID AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

This is the one I am looking at now,

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/lapt...s/legion-5-pro-gen-7-(16-inch-amd)/82rg001gus

Save $550.00 27% off Est Value $1,999.99 Current Offering Price $1,449.99

I need to pay my Holiday Bills first and dream about this one, but it is definitely in the Running, and when and If I goto TRS 22,

I have to get a new laptop, because my old Asus is 4yrs coming into 5 this next Dec 2023.....For reference, Computers 3yrs or more old are Dinosaur, Technology, Software and Game evolution is going Warp Speed for quite some time, and just GPU is not enough for all the demands put on futuristic Games, Trainz included with HD Terrain and all the composites coming down the Pipeline. One has to have good balance of all Computer Subsystems in unison.

And I will preach this one thing, get the largest Hard Drives you can afford, or make sure whatever Computer you purchase has significant Expansion Abilities IE not just one Hard Drive, you need too have Two..

One for Operating OS, One for Gaming ETC.........Your mileage will vary of course! ;)

Watching our Famous Rose Parade, amazing what you can do with Flowers. :)

Hugs from afar to you and Family

Rainstorms approaching/Electrified issues

Good Sunday Evening all,

Looks like more Rain is headed our way the next couple of days, looking to drop 4"-10". Our soil is saturated at the moment, so it looks like Mud and Landslides in several areas. We've been in Drought, something like 7 years, the thing is now, we are Facing Pineapple Express. Will see how things go.

Over to Trainz I was looking at this Route Magistrala Maz (Polish for Main Road?) or Bus-line, not quite sure, they say whenever you download a Route that has issues, you have some choices, delete it forget it, try a different one, or take the Challenge, try to fix the Route, and learn from it, we learn by doing.

In this case I use Missing Spline, which gives me Dotted White Lines for the Following, Rails, Roads, Flora Splines, and in this case, I didn't know it also includes Electrical Lines for Rails Etc.

The Problem is because the Electrified Rail Asset sits over the Rails, and making the Rail a double one for every Rail that has Electric Cable overhead. My other problem was Assets are in Polish, so I couldn't figure out what Assets belonged to Missing Cables. Short part, I spent a week working on the Route, Putting in new Tracks, and having to go back and remove all Duplicate Rails from one end to the Other.

Granted could have sent a message to the Author, and maybe that would have worked better. However I did correct the Rails, and I'll use a different set of Wires and Support Structures, which brings me the next point?

I figured I could download some French, German/ Polish, Russian, Swedish Etc, to see what they had for Electrified Routes. It proved a good learning experience, and even though it took a week to figure out what I had going on, I think I got a good experience, therefore well worth the effort.

Below are the different Routes I downloaded:

Electric Commuter Deutschland - Unfinished Strecke

Reseau SNCF annees 1970 V.3 MRR Style (French)

<kuid:521966:101076> KleinStadt Model Railroad (German)

Magistrala Maz & Poligon (Polish Rts)

<kuid:521966:102467> Petersdorf-Seifersdorf DE - Model Railroad (Pemoba Holland

<kuid:1019424:100148> AA Russian Moscow - Enelarg GB 1.1
<kuid:1011988:100027> Russian Route
<kuid:945507:100003> Russian tundra
==============================================================================
Tonight Pic is little of everything:

I downloaded lots of Assets for Routes Etc, ending up with quite a list of Faulty Ones!

Downloading A few Gigs of Assets, and doing one DBR Trainz took some of the older Assets and showed them Faulty, it could be a Disk Right Delay too, been down this Road a few times in the past, net result, I had to go thru 30 some Routes and Revert back to Original worked on several but not all Assets, the ones that didn't clean up, I had to delete and or replace them to make the affected Routes Error Free again.

Here I was trying to take a high altitude Photo Shot, I finally had add a tall Small Cone to get up high enough, you can see the edge of Cone here, but it did the Trick for me. I need the Distance Shot to fix and decide if needed to add some more Tiles to fix Edge Drop off.

In this particular shot, I wanted to show this Double Slip Switch, it allows for more compact areas too easily change directions.

How does a double slip switch work?

A Double Slip Switch (DSS) connects a series of parallel tracks to allow a train to cross over on to any track no matter which direction it is going. A train approaching the arrangement may leave by either of the two tracks on the opposite side of the crossing.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=double+slip+switch+railroad

This is one of Polish Routes I was working on to Fix/re add Electrification, the main reason, I like the Smoke Trail and natural look as this old Steamer heads down the Track. My intent later on, is taking a look at the Config, use it's Smoke Configuration for other Locomotives Smoke Characteristics to improve them. I might not be able to figure it, who knows, but I give it go in the Future.

This little guy is a very cool oddity <kuid2:116296:31200:3> Maunsell shunter

If memory serves me correct, I think one of the members was discussing this little Fella, and I read about it, thought, this would be cool to move a few cars around.

This one was made by skipper1945, and notes per Asset:In 1937 three 350hp diesel electric Shunter's were built at Ashford for Southern Railway, and entered service in 1937 numbered [Southern 1] to -- 3 which became 15201 to 15203 after 1948.

And I had an older version of this Route, liked, had fun with it. Dual Gauge too.

Overhead shot, showing the intricate Route lines.

Last Picture show cool Topography, Trees etc, lots of detail work in this one, Vers 4.6

Wedding in the Rain Storm / Cutting the Cord/ File Bkup Plans Etc

Good Morning all,

It's been a while since I posted here on this thread,

We had a Wedding to attend that was planned about a Year ago, it just wasn't known or maybe suspected that it could Rain as much as it did. But it did, the Bride was determined Rain or Shine to have it on a beautiful location where the Horses roam, Ranch Style. Everyone got a bit of soaking, but she made it happen. We are so proud of Wedding Couple. Even the Big ole Barn was leaking a bit from the onslaught of Rain.

The point being whatever things you plan to do, it's amazing what can be accomplished if you really want to..

Switching over to New Years Resolutions:

For me, one of my concerns was the cost of my ISP Verizon cost of Triple Play! I started from 80$, 2004? now paying 235$, :(100MG speed, and through the last few years, it had been going up a few dollars each month. This is with one pkg of Ultra High Definition, no other pkg. Plus Verizon had sold off to Frontier, so now we had a New ISP, but connected thru Verizon's Fios network. Originally before Verizon, we used DSL, 1.5 (1 to 10 Mbps) but we were a mile away from the switch. Bad situation for us, until Verizon laid in Fiber Cable in our Street Etc.

What I am getting at, like most of us, New Years comes and goes quickly, we have our bucket list, or change up list, for necessary or needed changes, whatever that is. Me & Mr's Blue had been discussing along with other family members the high costs of Cable Services, what could be done to lower them. Bottom line, for us, the Set Box would have to go, yes there is Tivo, but there is a Subscription cost. For us, it would not save that much money, streaming by far with 1-2 Subscriptions, would fit the bill.

We kept our Fios and Fios, Bill has been reduced to about 75$, and we pick and choose 1-2 Streaming pkg 's for viewing. It does save money, like anything else, your mileage will vary!

Lets switch over to backup for Trainz:

Recently I helped with the other Members assisting, a member who lost most of there Assets for custom Route, fortunately for them, other members had several of those assets and were able to help restore the most of the missing Assets.

Lets face it, any type of Backup, needs work, be it External Drives, Flash Drives, Cloud Storage, NAS, etc. Your mileage and reliability will vary considerably, and remember, just like old B&W Photos on printed paper, Projector Slides, etc, lifetime, quality of image is limited by many factors, heat, humidity, etc. In our case, Electronics, if you lose the Electronic representative of your Photo, it's basically gone forever, lest you have a Backup copy somewhere? For retrospect, a story about about spouse who had Baby Birth pics up to 2 yrs old didn't know his pics were not backed up, lost the pics on Phone, and that was it, never to be had again. Now convert this over to Trainz, personal Rt's with years of work, poof, something happens, your work as you know it, vanished, you might have some pieces, but not the whole Route. All to often this happens, we have all read the stories, and it happened to me on some of my Routes too, fortunately, I had some old copies, but lost as much as 6-8 months of work on couple of Merged Rts. It hurt, but I did figure out, I needed to change my way of saving files on multiple venues, of Cloud, Hard Drives etc.....

At this moment, I doing a huge bk up on my Lenovo thru ASUS Cloud Storage, it is taking a very long time, so this will be a test to see how long it does take, right now, it's been 12 hrs, and we are no where there yet, it is still collecting the number of files for backup, 750 Gigs so far...Like waiting for Paint to dry, when there's Rain or high Moisture issues......:'(

Final Thoughts:

Respectfully to all, it is easy to have happen, you need to make your own buy in of how much work invested too protect your Assets. I don't want to sugar coat it, it takes work, and follow-up.

Now that we have a Sunny Day, I need to get to it......Time waits for no one........;)

I hope to post more tonight with Pics and Video Links.

Please if you have questions and/or comments, post here. I'm more than happy to respond.

Thank you and stay safe out there, lots of Flooding and Mud Flows from 9 mega storms. this month.

Peace and good health to all you.

Good evening Blue, the security copies are very important, I have 2 external hard drives with duplicate copies. Also, every day I copy the work done on one that I later order if they are finished.

Euromodeller-RIP / Cloud Service issues? ? Y Tube Pics

Good Sunday Morning and a Blessed Day to all,

Many things to discuss, if I can remember them all, most importantly, we lost one of Great Asset Creators Euromodeler, Graham, he will indeed be missed. Graham had a heart of Gold and created a vast amount of Assets. RIP my friend Will always remember you.

https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?170696-Euromodeller-RIP&p=1956807#post1956807

So this last week, trying to get caught up after the Holidays, and fixing broken Toilet and other things.....

I wanted to make sure my Travel Computer was properly backed up, besides using One Drive from Microsoft. I had used a Cloud Service thru ASUS, it works, but not the way I need it too, and speed wise it is to slow, navigation and their Website for it does not work for me.

It's important to Note, at least to what I have seen with Carbonite and other Cloud Sites, Upload is not fast per say, download can be twice as slow for Restoration needs.

Note Backups like any other Service requires resources from your RAM Hard Drive etc, computers operate on Time Splice sharing, think of it like a freeway when it gets busy, if you slow your speed down too much, other things might crash, lockup, or not work right in the OS. So Sys Resources are allocated for every task going on in your computer. With that said, backups be it Real Time or part of a day have to co exist in your particular environment.

Website Navigation may not be easy, and in some cases unless your really familiar with a Company Layout Menu system, it might not work easily for you to obtain, or even find how your files are arranged.

Finally you pay for what you get in service, it important to read all the details. I paid for 2 years service, got a good rate, so I will use ASUS for just certain things, most likely just my secondary bk up site for Trainz, nothing else.

My other mantra is never put all your eggs in one basket, multiple types of backup devices and Cloud Locations in my estimation is important for securing File backup. And storage these days, is vast, and much less expensive than in past decades. In my time, it was using Tape Bk-ups, Diskettes, Etc. Belief or not, back in the 80's I had dozens of Tape Bk-ups and 80-100 Diskettes 1.4 Meg capacity..No Cloud backup like today. Heat, Humidity and time, all play a roll on how long your backups will be viable, including NAS Drives.

More importantly, one needs to check said backups, by testing it, down loading the saved backup to a temp device, such as NAS, Spare Hard Drive, SSD etc, too actually see and go thru the steps of retrieving whatever bk-up you put on Cloud Service. This is going to show/tell you how it actually works if something goes wrong.

In my particular case, I did a bk-up to ASUS Cloud, 950 Gigs, and in 4 hours, it was averaging 1.5 Gigs per hour, multiply by 24hrs, 36 Gigs per day, fair to say, approx 28 days to bk-up, that was not going to work for me.:'(

Additional info, I have 100G Fios, just did a Speed Test Download 90 Upload 85 which tells me, I have pretty darn good upload speeds......I also use Carbonite and One Drive, Dropbox as well they are much, much faster, it is generally 1-2 days for complete initial bk-up, whole drive(s) which is understood..

Last thing to note, Cloud Services, not all, some will make a Temp Storage File Area to load up a Que of your files, this allows for quick more even flow of Files uploading continuously to your Cloud Service, in my case it was about 5-10 Gig File storage area, that begs the question, do you have enough hard drive space to make this Backup, if you, say are on your last 10-20 gigs of hard Drive Space, you could run into problem with Windows. This needs to be taken into account when lots of your Hard Drive is filled up.

I also ran into this when I upgraded from WIN8 to Win10, during download of new OS to Drive C: I almost ran completely out of usable hard Drive. I littering had to pause the installation and off load tons of directories to another drive, so as not to crash my Computer. This was a wake up call for me back in the day a several years ago.

Pics for tonight. None, I want to share Y Tube with you folks as promised a few posts back. ;)

Y Tube Pics of the Week.

Train Operations of the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad - 12 9 2022

Welcome to the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad based in the heart of Southern Illinois. Founded in 1971, the CO&E began operations as a tourist railroad for the greater Marion area. This railroad was the home to two steam locomotives, 2-4-2T #5 and 2-8-0 #17. Tourist operations ended in 1978 after a fire broke out inside the old Illinois Central depot in downtown Marion on June 13, 1977. From there, the railroad began its freight operations in 1978 using a newly acquired 35-ton switcher. The 2-8-0 #17 began its first revenue run on May 10, 1979 and was used as the primary locomotive for the CO&E. Moving into the new decade, #17 was continuing to pull freight on the still expanding railroad in and around Marion before the steam pipe from the throttle valve to the cylinders collapsed in 1986, abruptly ending the steam era for the CO&E. Only two days before, the railroad had acquired two former Missouri Pacific Railroad SW1200 diesel locomotives, which became the railroad's primary motive power after the decision was made not to overhaul 2-8-0 #17. The historic steam locomotive now rests at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad in Boone, Iowa for historical purposes. The CO&E was North America's last railroad to use a steam locomotive in freight operations.

Tornado. The 100mph steam engine. Full film by Tom Ingall https://youtu.be/-8fp8Gknm0w

A few years ago I had the privilege of making this film for the BBC alongside the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust. In order to gain certification for their locomotive 'Tornado' to operate at 90mph, an over speed test needed to be conducted, which saw the locomotive attempt to run at 100mph.

Battling Heavy, Wet Snow https://youtu.be/G4ZcxH-k8xg

What a way to start winter! We got socked with a heavy, wet snow on the 16th and 17th of December, which took down trees and power lines across the region. After the snow, the forecast said it would drop well below freezing, which meant that the snow would turn to concrete like ice.
Mill Brook Railroad's snow fighting team sprung into action to keep the line as clear as we could to try to beat the freeze.

A Failed Locomotive Cold Start after Changing the Locomotive Radiator https://youtu.be/hAU1W8FOEh0

Installing a new radiator in this EMD SD 38-2. See the new locomotive radiator
and how it fits in, placing the top cover with the locomotive cooling fans,
and watch as we try to start this very cold engine which
did not start. Then see it being pushed into the shop with a Caterpillar loader.

Most locomotives run straight water. We do put in a rust/scale
inhibitor, makes the coolant look like watered down fruit juice.
The only EMD loco I know of that came from the factory with
anti freeze is the SD 70ACe. Because of the straight water
is why you see so many locomotives idling during the winter,
unless they are equipped with a Smart Start system which
automatically stops and re starts the locomotive upon certain
engine parameters.

Ok Folks, I think this is a wrap.....Thanks for coming by to Visit.....

Thanks Blue! Great videos as always. I am curious if anyone has a link to video #1 for the P&B? I see that was #50, so a lot to review, but I would kind of like to see if I could follow that from the start.

Thank you for those Blue! It's a great start, and I will try to figure it out from there. Perhaps if I "Join" or "Subscribe" or something there will be a list? I really don't know how those things work. I notice he has both options. There also appears to be the start of a playlist on the right.

Hi Forester1,

Here is a little more help. I remember when I first started to Y Tube, and it has change so much.

https://www.socialpilot.co/youtube-marketing/how-to-save-a-video-from-youtube

And here is the difference of Saving and/or Subscribing.

When you save, it is just like saving a File somewhere to revisit, keep, or delete if you want?

Subscribe just means, you like the Video and would like to see there other Videos by the Author, already made, and any new ones...

Notifications are up to you, as you get more used to it, some you might want to watch whenever, others, like for me, I watch Oak Island mystery, and want to be aware when new ones show up, so I turn on my Notifications.;)

And

YouTube creates this Watch Later Playlist for its users to help them access the video whenever they want to. It is a private playlist which means that you can only give access to a selected person and won’t be visible to anyone on the platform.
You can see the lock icon visible right next to the word Private, which means that it is your private playlist.

Hope this helps a bit....
