Greetings.

For a railfan, there's only one thing better than watching a train hurtling past - hurtling alongside it of course. Whether it's a typical Monday morning manifest or a hopelessly impractical steam locomotive hauling an excursion, train chases are the epitome of railfanning. This week's theme is Chase. Please send your theme suggestions for subsequent competitions via email or Skype by clicking on the little icons below my username.

One screenshot allowed per entrant. Screenshots must adhere to the theme and the Trainz Forum Code of Conduct.
Submission closes on December 13 at 12:00 mn UTC/GMT/Zulu time.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

Getting to chase a steam train at track speed is rare enough....but getting to chase 2 side by side is almost unheard of!

The highlight of the 1991 NRHS Convention held in Huntington, WV was the the side by side excursion of the Nickel Plate Road #765 and the Pere Marquette #1225. The CSX mainline from Huntington to St. Albans, WV was tied up all day to allow the two steamers to remain side by side for the entire 40 mile trip. Anywhere the train met the road, there was a caravan of vehicles in pursuit or a sea of cameras capturing every turn of the wheel!

It's amazing to think that CSX actually allowed this to happen!

Quite literally a chase! In the climactic scene of the 70's film classic [inset title here], the villains chase a freight train on a road alongside the tracks. When they notice that the police are catching up to them while they are on the combined road-rail bridge, they put their plan into action to leap onto the caboose and take control of the train.

(Since Photobucket is being a fool, I will give the link to the picture. I will edit it in when/if Photobucket decides to work properly and not take 25 minutes to load.)

Well, I must say, that is a chase indeed

!!!

Nothing like a good chase. A couple of 'hoons' in a Porsche and Ferrari race neck and neck, trying to overtake a Nickel-Plate steamer, closely followed by some hot-footed Police squad cars and a Police Rescue van.
The only one who really wins this is the Nickel-Plate driver who doesn't face getting arrested.

The hitch-hiker would be happy to pick up just one ride from anyone.

A Pennsy T1 and a New York Central Niagara square off as they both simultaneously depart from Englewood Union Station, the first eastbound stop on many prestegious overnight trains of both roads.

The GWR/SR Goods Chase

The Great Western Railway and the Southern Railway might be cooperating in the interchange station and goods yard in the background, but rivalry still runs high, especially in this old London & South Western territory.
