Rebuilding the B&O
I figured since everybody else has a thread for their fictional railroad that I should start my own. The Ohio and West Virginia is a fictional railroad start out in 1979 When the B&O decide to get rid of its former Ohio & Western track age in from Weirton, Ohio to Herndon, Kentucky. In 1997 when Norfolk Southern and CSX split Conrail there was one line that both roads did not want. This was ran from Weirton to Youngstown and had been rail banked since 1976. The O&WV is mostly EMD but that have 15 GE Dash 9 and eight Steam engines for their steam program. As of right now the mainline starts at Painesville OH and Runs down the former B&O Lake Branch to Youngstown where it Runs south towards Weirton. From this point the line Runs down into West Virginia And winds up in Herndon Kentucky. At Herndon O&WV connects to Kentucky and Eastern. The story for the K&E is that it was a Illinois Central Gulf branch which ran from Central City, Kentucky to Herndon, Kentucky. The K&E Almost went bankrupt in 1982 due to poor management. When this happened O&WV and Paducah and Louisville both purchased the K&E. Fast forward to 2000 and O&WV bought out CSX ownership of the Paducah and Louisville and because of this the O&WV uses the K&E western connection to the Paducah and Louisville at Central City to run its trains through to Paducah and on to Evansville. The all three short lines remained the own independent railway. The paint scheme for the K&E is the former ICG paint scheme because all of their motive power is ICG that was just patched over. When engines need to be repainted the just decided to keep the ICG paint job. the Ohio & West Virginia paint job is the same as the B&O pinstripe paint job that was on their GP-7's and GP-9's. When I get home later I will post more pictures of the route.
