Seven cars on a BNSF freight train derailed in downtown Tacoma.
The News Tribune reports that the train was on its way from Pasco to Seattle on Thursday when seven empty flat cars came off the tracks.
BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says the accident happened about 3 p.m.
Melonas says no one was hurt and no hazardous materials leaked.
Five of the cars ended up on their sides and two were upright. Crews expected to have the cars back on the track Friday.
The train had 106 cars total and 69 carried cargo. The rest were empty. Melonas says the cargo included diesel, ethanol, flour and minerals.
Other trains were not delayed by the derailment, because they were able to use an adjacent track, Melonas said.

Why does the country have these semi-regular de-railments??
These particular cars are very light and are prone to this, especially when mid train like these were. I live in the area, and read an article about why, but don't remember the exact reason off the top of my head.

Why does the country have these semi-regular de-railments??
Because we do derailments bigger and better than everyone else, and are highly practiced at it :hehe: thank you !
We can do anything better ... we can do anything better than you !
