Home Sweet Home...

Years ago here in GB and even further back there used to be passenger train coaches dotted about the country near railway lines and families could book them. They were for cheap and simple holiday places and were created by the railway.

Adaptations and extensions to railway carriages to make homes were quite common here in Britain. In fact a well known broadcaster Paul Atterbury lived in one until fairly recently.

True but the ones I mentioned were owned by the then British Rail Board but and advertised by it for holidays in the country or near the coast. Pretty basic but maybe cheaper than staying in resort accommodation as incomes gradually went up and people could afford more distant places the tradition died! Although my mother knew I was a train fan she had more ambitious plans for a holiday when younger so you didn't argue with the house sergeant. :D
