Australian Chat Thread

Hey all,

Been a while since I posted here, the NSWR 2CF bogie has been on DLS for some time, if anyone is interested in a copy of the PSD so they can weather/reskin send me a PM....

Anyways, going back to the NSWR Sparks I have in Gauge One / 1:32 scale, further research says there Sputnik's, few months ago the guy made me a kit version of one I'm going to be assembling in the next couple of weeks including r/c equipment and nose hung Fosmotors, the research I did says they have 4 motors per car, they start in series and change to series-parallel (like Victorian Sparks), I'm going to try model this transition into it by using Channel 3 to set the servo for series or series-parallel (so if the power output is Lithium 21.5v 2000mah you divide by the number of motors / 4 so each motor is getting 5.3v for starting as the motors are 12v they move pretty quick already under a lower voltage then change to series-parallel you get 10.75 volts per motor, if I had them in parallel they'll be getting 21.5 volts per motor), that's the theory anyways, won't be able to test till it's assembled.

But I still can't find any kind of drawings for NSWR stuff as I want to check the accuracy of the model.

Also, would it be possible if anyone would be able to get me detailed photos of the bogie frames?

Thanks,
Cheers.

Howdy Azza i'd grab the psd for the bogies but i think you made them for a later version which i don't have mate but glad ya got em done anyway so well done, As for the electric thing ya building Coals To Newcastle site has sum very cheap plan books you can purchase so maybe what your looking for is in here http://www.coalstonewcastle.com.au/plan/documents/ Hope that helps mate i have bought a few books from there all downloadable and worth the few bucks.
Cheers Mick.

Hey Mick,

Thanks for the link, the model is 1-3mm out in some parts and 1-3mm in on others, so it's pretty much right :) , I'll buy the full size drawings of them so I can see about autoCAD laser cutting, there's a place in Geelong that does it and my brother said it's $600 as he works for them as a welder, he was telling me about it yesterday afternoon, I can use 0.8mm thick and up to 2mm thick sheets and the size only comes in 1200mm x 1400mm, so I should be able to get 6 cars out of the one sheet as each side is roughly 578mm long by 61mm and the ends are 102mm x 61mm, so it's very exciting to try this out.

As for the bogie, I think there TS12 SP1, you should be able to download them then back date to 3.5, let me know how that goes.

Also, Here's a video of the two cars I've got running, it's fitted with two 12v worm drive motors set in series so each motor is taking in 6 volts.

Cheers.
