lego207's Work/Silver Lines

Updating that route some... This weekend and Thanksgiving break next week will give me a lot of time to work on this route, which will be lovely. Progress pics.

It's all coming together... I really like that replace assets tool.

Thanks, Enzo. I never thought the cliffs were all that great myself.. I need some better rock textures for the whole route though... I never seem to have good textures. I should spend a long time finding some. Hmm... anyone know some really nice rock textures?

Gasp, someone bought some K&L Products! ~.^ I highly recommend their berks (The NKP one blew my socks off!) or the PRR N-1 Mountain (Real work horse).

Those cliffs look pretty good the way they are. Only thing I could suggest would be to just pick ONE OR TWO SPOTS (This is easy to over-do, just pick at most a couple spots on the bigger cliffs) and break em up a little, either the same textures a different direction, or better yet some similarly colored Rock Textures (Cracks, or even a quartz or granite outcropping or some such, but the trick here is getting a color that doesn't contrast too hard). If you want to go nuts theres some Shale/Broken Rock Textures you can find that you can put some around the base. Finally put a Grazzy strip (Or similar shrub/grass of your choosing) across the top and you'll have some really gnarly natural lookin Rocky Outcroppings.

But to be honest, even if you left them as is, you did better then probably 50% of the cliffs I've seen on released DLS Routes just guessing on your own, so good on ya mate.

Oh, believe me I love the NKP Berk. I don't use it nearly enough!

For whatever reason, these keep appearing all over the place. They are really annoying.
15665353970_47d99cf6ce_o.png

Just... holes. That delete the texture and lower the ground down by like 20-er-somethin. Really annoying...
Thanks for the suggestions, Falcus! I'll try some stuff out at some point today...

Slowly...
For some reason I doubt anybody could tell what locomotive is leading that train. It's not a J1 :B

Let me tell you a thing.
When I built this route so long ago in Trainz Mac 1, I didn't know how to into gradient. Therefor I threw down tracks and said '"good". Turns out the steepest point in this grade right here is 4.04%. Everything else is about 2-3.5%. I wonder now what the grade is over on the other side of this place.

How do you like Mac 2? I'm lovin' it! I like your route. Who says you can't run AC-12s and NKP Berks next to SD70ACEs and SD40s? ;)

Thanks, judah. I so far have really enjoyed Mac 2. Especially CM - it's so much better now... Only thing is that holding [ or ] doesn't rotate textures when placing them, it seems... Oh, well.

The question of what progress I have made within these last few days, is that I added some grass. I discovered OpenEmu (a Mac-only emulator that has tons of different systems like the GBA or N64) recently and, well, I found Advance Wars and after having seen CSS's LP of the second game I played those a lot.
But I mean I did some stuff to the route.

I guess the SLRR really likes it steam locomotives... or something. Ah forget it, let's have fun. This loco looks great in the snow anyways.

So...

Trainz. Right. So TANE CE is coming out rather soon, which is pretty cool. I guess those who preordered also get this CE version if I understood right so I'd be able to get this and that's great. Only thing is it requires OS X 10.9 or higher. And uh... unless there's plans to make it work on 10.8.5, well... I never upgraded to Mavericks (10.9). And ain't no way I'm upgrading to Yosemite. Heard it's too buggy (and ugly) and undoubtedly won't work with some of my other stuff. Any of you other Mac guys know a way to like, get around this problem? I heard when 10.9 came out and people wanted to go back to 10.8.5 they made some kind of 'stick' with the older version and could reinstall. Maybe that'll happen this time around. I'm still on 10.8.5. I've used it for over a year and I have only gotten great things from it. My friend says 10.9 works well and infact it might well be whats causing a few bugs on my other stuffs, the fact I never upgraded. So, any ideas? Google ain't helping me this time..

Cheers,
SM

At least so far as trainz is concerned, I doubt that your lack new OS-age is whats causing things like Holes to appear. Thats a bug thats occurred to other route creators (Ask Montanawestern if he ever found a fix for it, happened alot to him as well).

Also wanted to say, look up "Hayes Bumper" on the DLS. That poor Centerbeam car looks about ready to make a break for freedom....

Falcus

Eh, the holes aren't what concern me although they are a nuisance. Thing is, TANE requires OSX 10.9 or higher and I don't have that... and no way am I going to 10.10. And TANE CE comes out soon... so... yeah problems...

Oh shoot, you're right about that centerbeam... I totally forgot to add a bumper to the end of that track. Will do...

I haven't looked at Macs since OSX, lol. Kind of surprised they haven't just moved to to OS11 in the past 8? years or so.... Whatever. 10.10 may not be as bad as you think it is. I haven't looked at it, but then Im running Win8, and right after that came out every one was complaining about it, but I found it really nice, just that they moved some things around, which took me all of 3 minutes to figure work arounds for....

Anyway, good luck!

So I just realised today I still have Trainz Mac 1 installed... I don't know why.. that thing is probably wasting a lot of space on my computer. I suppose the worry is that if I uninstall I may forget to have installed certain things from that to Mac 2. Shoot. Should I just delete TSMac 1 or not - is that a good idea? What do.

Just felt like making a little extra mini-route. Just to kind of practice landscaping and vegetation stuff. Somewhat based off of that abandoned area of route I made on the SLM.
Plus nice and smooth framerates. Those trainyards on the SLM are really crunching my fps. Too much high quality stuff there, I guess.

I hope I don't do what I did with the SLM.. started kind of like this (but looked awful) and then it became a large project...

Oh boy, TANE CE is out for PC users. Have fun with that guys... I just got an email telling me about this and how to into install. Now I wait for the Mac one... you never know what may or may not work, hehe.
