@clam1952- I feel I must apologise for repurposing so many of your FR/WHR buildings on my route! :hehe:

heres a few shots of my DRGW 36" freelance route, which is loosely based on the New Mexico /Colorado routes set in the 1950s , this the 'lush' part of the route, its about 120 boards and there a lot of arid zone sections as well . ive tried to select the right vegetation , mostly using C071 and JVC RM set. Still a lot to do its about 75% complete.

Nice job on the route so far Dan. It's always good to see more NG D&RGW routes. The D&RGW had one of the fine examples of NG railroading in the USA.

Great start here. I'd recommend using splines and/or objects on the cliffs though. Pencil42 has some good ones on public beta at the Carson Car Shops, and Clam1952 has created a grand series for his Welsh narrow-gauge lines. Either set should serve you well.

Cheers guys, thanks for the encouragement , i always feel that using trainz to create routes is like painting a picture with a 3 inch brush , its more a question of mastering its quirks than anything else. I wish the paint tool could be shrunk down smaller :)
TB, I will see what i can find from what you recommend . The section i posted earlier is one of the earliest i created and i'm still woking on it . I have tried using splines and objects, the only place i've used them so far is for rivers , but the trouble i find with with them is that they are repetitive and often its hard to blend effectively with the scenery , i'm trying lots of different techniques in different sections of the route. some i'm happy with others not so, heres a few more screenshots , this is based roughly on the Los pinos section of the cumbres & toltec

i don't think there is anything prototypical for C&S ,the stock would work well in any colorado route such as durango and silverton and cumbres and toltec. its even possible some of it may have been used on thse lines when they needed extra cars during the war or the oil boom . I'm also working on the cumbres and toltec from DRGW days, i've taken fishlipsatworks route and have so far done the narrows and some bits and pieces such as re routing the road next to the track to its older configuration from its dirt track days, but its a big project to get it right re 1950s , and earlier .

Ben Dorsey kindly helped out with providing me with a prototypical bridge for Cumbres Pass station , you can see the old roads proper course in the first bridge shot, it now goes the other side of the valley since it was paved in the 1960s

Nathan : Re the welsh route, its looking good, i love that part of the country I used to ride on the Ffestiniog a lot during my childhood days as we had relatives in Harlech in the 1950s/60s we used to visit every summer , it was very quiet there then .

Nah - some engines and rolling stock are just to good looking not to use no matter how mixed up the consist might be.:hehe:

Your usual beautiful screenshot of course.

:hehe: I was talking about the disparity of routes I'm currently working on but, your are right, that is a sadly scrambled consist. Mainly due to the lack of DSP&P passenger cars, I had intended to take a swing at repainting them but never quite got around to it.

dangavel, your Cumbres Pass looks pretty darn good.

thanks, i haven't done much on it for a while , i literally am measuring up everything from google earth and old photos , videos off youtube etc to get it as accurate as possible .that means progress is pretty slow .
once i get chama and antonito accurately measured up then i'll move back to the track again. I've gotten a few of the more important places on the route to a fair condition , the whole thing is going to take many months to get up to scratch.
theres also a dearth of buiidings to make the towns accurate, its going be a matter of using whats close to prototype and hoping some other folks will make some more content .
