The Indiana Department of Transportation on June 24, 2014 selected Corridor Capital as its preferred vendor to manage and operate the current Amtrak Hoosier State route between Indianapolis and Chicago.
Indiana DOT and Corridor Capital are now in discussions towards an agreement for a changeover in operations commencing October 1, 2014.

There is still a lot of work to do; such as make agreements to operate on the various rail lines; and find a terminal in Chicago to end in.

Oh on the plus side of it all, Corridor Capital will be using ex ATSF/Amtrak Hi-Levels!

What is Corridor Capatal? Is it another goverment-run railroad, or a privatly run railroad? Or is it a railroad at all?

And just like that, searching AmCal Capitol Corridor in google images just became 10x more difficult.... It will be interesting to see that equipment though. ;)

Private organization. They've been trying to get into the passenger rail business for a while now, but hadn't been able to get any lines to run. They own a fleet of ex-ATSF HiLevels (and I think that's it) which they claim have been quite extensively refurbished.

So, they have 60 cars, none of which are rebuilt. Exactly what do they plan to operate?

As was stated previous in this thread and can be found on their website, all of their Hi-Levels have been extensively refurbished and the passenger capacity has also been increase. for Locomotive power on the other hand...

Actually their website says that they "Will be Refurbished" when they have a route to run on. And I would assume that would be as long as someone else pays for it. Its kind of hard to hide 60 rebuilt ATSF Hi-Levels and no one seems to have ever seen them. Far too many to hide in a building.

I've been asking around, and no one seems to know where they're hiding them.

There is talk on some other boards, that CC won't actually be using their Hi-Levels for the Hoosier. But instead will be leasing some used single level cars from another company. CC will also have to contract the operational personnel to Amtrak most likely (engineers, conductors, etc). And finally they're planning on contracting out the maintenance of the cars. Now while I don't know how reliable that source is. It makes you ask, just what the heck is CC getting paid to provide then?

"Before selling or leasing them to a passenger-rail operator, Corridor Capital will totally rebuild them..."

According to Corridor Capital's site, they own 50 hi-levels and plan to extensively refurbish them once they're certain someone is buying or leasing the cars. Seems more like Corridor Capital is providing the rolling stock and their refurbishment but nothing else beyond that, suggesting that the Hoosier State may possibly end up being state-run.

Some places speculate that these hi-levels were also offered to All Aboard Florida at some point.
EDIT: In the Background Info in the Categories menu on the left side of CC's site looks to have a link to a page with a bit of info about AAF from May of this year, but nothing on Corridor Capital's involvement in the project. *not that it really has much to do with the Hoosier State*
