My how this game changed for me once this particular thread started many moons ago...

Shot of a loaded coal train operating over the Belt Railway of Chicago mainline in a re-creation of Bruce Carpenter's HO Scale BNSF Chilli Sub. The route was featured in Great Model Railroads 2007. The BNSF main from Corwith is above and the lead to the UP staging at Proviso is in the foreground. This is one of my favorite areas of the route as it feels like you are on the ground in Chicago.

BNSF train VCHIGAL is ready to head west to Galesburg with it's loaded multilevels and empty parts cars. The cranes for the intermodal terminal at Willow Springs can been seen above CN C44-9W 2574.

I grew up next to the ATSF on the west side of Galesburg near what is now the old Maytag plant. Back then it was Rockwell International, I think. The Santa Fe stationed a switcher in Galesburg and I spent quite a bit of time watching it moving cars around the yard and into the plant. Usually on Friday, they would leave the geep at the head end of the outbound cars for a westbound to pick up. Most of the time it was parked near the scrapyard downtown by the depot.

I had started a model railroad a while back that would represent what I remember from those days. It's in 2004 so please forgive the ancient graphics.

The Admiral/Rockwell Plant with the added warehouse. The road that splits it is Linwood st. Looking northeast.

Looking S.West

Main Street Looking east towards the scrapyard and Depot. The two spurs will be the piggyback ramps.

And finally, the BN connection that goes to the old Butler plant.

It's a Fall day in Pioneer Valley as CSX AC4400 #97 gets a final inspection before it will be returned to Freedom Yard for service.

Sure did. Same as the ATSF cantilever bridges in the pics. Made three versions of the Admiral/Rockwell building. Life size, half size, and super compressed for the layout (shown).

New power.

Wanted to see how they looked in game.
