Google Maps Railfanning Section (READ RULES!)

Pretty cool, thanks! Website railpictures dot net has option for photographers to give G Maps location when they post and it is fun to go see what might be seen.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned (tl:dr and all that) but fans of Swiss railways may be fascinated to learn the entire Rhaetian Railway has been captured by Google and can be viewed by dragging the orange person icon onto the track in Google Maps (or Google Earth).

This seems to be BNSF no.5409 leading a freight train along with two NS SD40's,no.6088 and no.3216 (Not sure if they are SD40's,but they look like SD40's.) near the Southeastern Railway Museum.

And also sorry about the NS units have the "Norfolk Southern" part of there logo blurred out,but that should be blamed on google, not me.

Nice catch. And Google's blurry images are the fault of the driver for not cleaning the camera lens periodically.

Great catch, John! How about this (are we having a contest?!)... CitiRail ES44AC #1205 followed by CEFX AC4400CW #1056 in the (very) small town of Stevenson, Alabama.

I don't know Dave, that's hard to beat! :)

Way cool.

Did you check out the museum to the right of the locos. There's another center cab there and one scene had a BNSF diesel which I can't catch because the camera doesn't get close enough.

Not engines, but private passenger cars at Utica station.

A stuffed NYC Steam 0-6-0 Locomotive.

And other equipment at the Children's Museum behind the camera...

Adirondack Alco RS-3 No. 25 (I think) pulling a ATSF passenger car.

There's lots of nice building to check out too including some freight houses such as the Erie Lackawanna Freight house located down the tracks to the left. It's now an office for the NYSW and another just around the corner to the left under the bridge from the station, but now a private business.

And one more...

Watertown, NY. A couple of sad little switchers abandoned without a connection. The track came in from the right side. There's a bridge over there but no track connected to it. Can anyone figure out what these are?
